The Israeli public has once more surged into protests against Prime Minister Netanyahu and his Conservative government. Demonstrators are now demanding the release of hostages and calling for the Prime Minister's resignation amidst his legal battles in court.

For a considerable time, he has been a political teflon seemingly impervious to criticism, often dubbed "Mr. Security," until Hamas breached security walls.

Israeli society is becoming increasingly fragmented, particularly with religious conservatives seemingly at odds with the rest of the population. The common bond remains the shared belief in the existential threats facing the Jewish community from its neighbors. However, if peace were to be achieved, though currently appearing distant, could this cohesion collapse?

Might this moment also signal the conclusion of Netanyahu's political career?

Bibi can go tomorrow. It won't change anything...Hamas would still attack Israel and conflict will wage on for centuries to come.

Bibi wasn't exactly loved before October 7th, and considering his stance as the protector of Israel, its even lower now. So, I think there is a strong chance he gets booted out in the next election, if he lasts that long.

Corruption trial, refusing to negotiate to return hostages and now adding conscription for orthodox add to his massive unpopularity.

Its probably why he bombed the Iranian embassy in Syria today, he needs to escalate the war or he'll get turfed from power.

Israel trying to ‘drag’ Iran into a regional war, analyst says

Ali Vaez, director of the International Crisis Group’s Iran Project, says Israel’s alleged attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria is “akin to targeting another country on its own soil”.
“Overall this seems to still be a low-simmer regional war. It’s not yet an all-out regional conflict, but it does appear that Israel is trying to do everything in its power to expand the conflict,” Vaez told Al Jazeera.
“[This] puts Israel in a win-win situation because Israel knows Iran doesn’t want to get dragged into a regional war, so if it escalates its attacks against Iranian assets and personnel in Syria, it probably will be cost free, and if Iran does respond and retaliate, then it becomes a justified pretext for expanding the war.”

We can hope.

It's funny how you guys keep talking about Net's demise as something that would deflate the pro-Israel side. NOBODY wants him around. It just shows how out of touch with reality you guys are.

I think the fear of the Islamic extremist factions will be omnipresent for decades to come.

Every Israeli government is always going to be unreasonable towards the Palestinians. But yes, good for Bibi to go. And take his nutso far right friends like Ben Gvir with him to the nut house.

What disaster, right? Considered the protector of Israel, only to oversee the biggest terror attack in the history of Israel. Not to mention being exposed for killing their own citizens via employ of the Hannibal Directive, that was so far thought to only exist for soldiers and never for civilians.

Illusion. Net is not going anywhere right now. Maybe after the war is over, he'll either quit or voted out on account of his screw up with October 7. Right now they'll support him until he gets rid of hamas, no Israeli leader is going to let hamas fester.

And their US puppet regime will keep sending them free bombs, paid for by US taxpayers.

Come to think of it, who sends Hamas free rockets and materials to build tunnels under Gaza? Who finances Hezbolla to wage war against Israel?

The only free weapons allowed are from the US!
The nerve of Palestinians being able to defend themselves from an illegal occupation!

Rich, that's so stupid.
The US sends $3.8 billion in weapons to Israel to control a concentration camp and settle the occupied territories.
Had they spent that one peace and demanded an end to the occupation it would have been so much cheaper and so much better for everyone,

Israel killed 7 aid workers delivering food during a famine yesterday, including 1 Canadian.

Israel committed 233 settler terrorist attacks before Oct 7 in 2023, 200 Palestinians had already been killed before Israel allowed settlers to storm the Al Aqsa.

Were those defensive acts?

what makes you think Israel allowed those? They arrest settlers who commit violence on palestinians....get that in your thick head....Does anybody reprimand Hamas when they commit violence on civilians? Palestinians or Israelis? Israel is pretty much the only one dealing with Hamas and their atrocities....not even UN and your beloved "Hague" touch them....call for removal of Hamas and when that happens, things will change....
