In my view, she is mistaking the online left for the actual people in meatspace, which is understandable because she herself is perpetually online.

Satire and sarcasm do not work in text over the internet 95% of the time, you need at least audio for it to work reliably. It also happened to me, I used to use a lot of sarcasm and satire on forums, most of the time it just made me look like an asshole and I stopped using it, I came to this conclusion over a decade ago.
