For many in the lower income brackets, $25,000 is life changing. It means they can finally pay off their debts and bills, and not stress. Or maybe they can find a decent place to live, or afford a medical or dental procedure. For others, though, the figure would be have to be at least $100,000 or more. This may mean paying off their mortgage, or having a retirement fund large enough so they never have to work again, and can pursue whatever they want.

Considering I don't buy lottery tickets unless the jackpot is $20 million or higher I choose $5 + million.
I don't get your question because you set a low number in your survey. Is this income per year or winning a lottery flat out.

Winning flat out. +$5 million was the highest amount in the survey.

I know a few Native Indians who received government payouts for residential school abuse. Between $100,000 and $200,000. Handed cheques like lottery ticket winnings with no counsel or guidance. Gone within 3 months to 9 months. Could have been life changing with a few words of wisdom and help. Half of their payouts must have gone to lawyers. Totally cynical washing of hands by Trudeau's acolytes. Handing money to people who should have been taken care of, but were once again fucked over hard. Sorry to be a downer.
I really like David Bach. Money adds up. Or as Gary Gulman said "not if you don't add it up".

I'd say 5 to 10M. Life changing for me would be retirement. For that I'd need - investments that pay for themselves, a house that I own (no debt) and a car - minimally. I think I'd consider 10M to be truly life changing.
I agree with this. Winning 500.00 is great too, ( i feel like a winner if i win 20.00 )however, even if you win 1M you're probably going to spend at least 850-950K on a two bedroom condo downtown. Plus furniture and a car. Having a paid off condo downtown still requires for an individual to work since you have to eat, property tax, bills, gas, going out....bla bla bla. Yes there will be less pressure to keep up with financial obligations but you'll still have bills if you're breathing. 3-5M is good. 5-10 is wonderful. 20 and above....can't even begin to imagine. I would defiantly have a chef making my meals....and a boat....and a personal trainer...and a house cleaner....6 cars......someone that comes to my house to cut my hair.....(i would still clean my cars. I enjoy doing that) :)

okay enough with the day dreaming about 20M. 3-5 would be amazing.

Sorry i meant 5-10M. Not 3-5M. bla bla bla:) Anyways my expectations are really low. A 500.00 gas card would be nice right about now:)
