Splurged on a pint of Haagen-Daaz chocolate ice cream and was severely disappointed. Was looking forward to premium ice cream, but the stuff tasted cheap: thin and icy. Not creamy and rich at all.

My favorite is the real dairy brand from nestle: very flavorful, rich and creamy.

I just came from their website and I see Nestle on it, as part owner.

I guess everyone is cutting back. Time to go to the food bank.

Welp, since all of the grocery fuckery has started the beloved Haagen Daaz has switched to cheaper ingredients. It used to be just cream alone which made the flavor stand out from the pack but they now use milk protein to cut down on the amount of cream they use. If that wasn't enough they also shrunk the container size from 500ml to 450ml to increase profits. Capitalism is alive and well my friends. Profits over people.

I rarely buy plain flavors like chocolate or vanilla, but Haagen-Daaz has a variety of other unusual, mixed flavors, especially ones on a stick. They are expensive so I only buy them on sale, which seems to be almost every week!

The ones on a stick are good, so are the Magnums.

I’m addicted to the chocolate peanut butter. Yum!

I've always had a taste for the low cost Chapmans 2l brick. It's super saturated with air and not a high butterfat content so you get nice mouth feel without so much fat. Kawartha is good quality but a bit too rich and sweet for my tastes. And expensive.

Chapmans is a solid, local Ontario small town, family business that is a good employer (y) That counts for a lot with me,

I use to love Ben & Jerry's and Breyers ice cream. Sadly I had to choose fat or healthy so now ice cream is a rare treat. My favorite flavors are black cherry and maple walnut.

Food bank cutbacks are worst of all. Contributions not keeping up with the number of mouths wanting to get fed...

Kawartha is great on a hot day. It can be very rich especailly Death by Chocolate 🤩 It is expensive, but it goes on sale now and again at Metro.

Kawartha's is decent but if you gonna splurge and don't do it daily like Tony Soprano, Purdy's or Baskins would be my pick.
