$2+ million dollars a year doing nothing except eating chow mein and talking to commies occasionally...that's too much money. Most hard working Canadians are living pay cheque to pay cheque.

Meanwhile the Huawei princess is enjoying Peking duck and shark fin soup in China. She doesn't need any $$ compensation. Rich enough being CFO of Huawei Technologies.

Why is Canada paying him for what china did?
Our government was the one who used him as a pawn to unwittingly spy.

Also our government was the one who decided to play in Trump's political game, while he paid the price (and Canada was the one left holding the bag because the US decided not to extradite Meng anyway).

I am sure he will get the same pay.

I smell some behind the scene politics here. These two guys can retire and live off the interest/income their jackpot can give them.

If Trudeau had known this guy was gonna sue the government when he got back home he should have just left him to rot in a Chinese prison.

Evidently, they were not in prison. They were in detention in a hotel like setting. How much TV/Internet access they had, I do not know.

Still, these guys were not diplomats or Gov. of Canada employees. They were working for NGOs, I do not even know if they were contracted to the Canadian government. A spy is defined as a person who obtains information secretly. It is possible these guys were free lance spies that were not discrete when they asked their questions. That is why the Gov. is paying them to keep their mouths shut.
