This might be the end of the two person news anchors delivering the news. Does it really take two people to read the news? Yeah, yeah, I know DEI.

The demographics are changing and most of the younger people don't care about legacy style media. It's all online, it's all on their apps. It makes sense.
Before it was a family or a single home family where people would sit and watch the news, but that demographic is failing and dying off now.
So you got Tucker Carlson doing his thing, Rebel News doing theirs, not sure where the Progressive side is going with their angled stories, but they will, I guess TYT and others.

I was more saddened when the globe and mail stopped selling print in my town. On line reading is just not the same thing.
I miss getting the daily paper.

Not just the younger. I'm mid fifties and went back to good old antenna 2 years ago. I get 5 channels which is more than enough.

Also, some/many foreign language channels. Why bother learning English (or French) when one can watch the news in Chinese, Portuguese, Italian, etc.

When I cut cable years ago I installed an HD antennae which gives me dozens of over-the-air uncompressed HD channels. Was cheap too like $300 all in. Great to access news/sports if the internet goes down!

I live between downtown Toronto and Scarborough. I have an outdoor tv antenna on the roof and consistently get 43 channels.

5 channels, why dagnabbit, back in my day we only had 2 channels in English CBC and CFCF and that's the way we liked it. <shakes fist>

THe CFCF and the reference to English should be a giveaway that I was talking Montreal.
Have no idea how many French stations we had back then, straight to channel 6 or 12.

Record job losses, all the while...

BCE Inc. has an operating revenue totaling $6.7 billion, up from $6.44 billion a year earlier. "They are not going bankrupt. They're still making billions of dollars. They're still a very profitable company," St-Onge said Thursday on Parliament Hill.

The problem with government is that they love losers and would move the Earth to bail them out. Meanwhile, winners get bashed.
