Simple question. Do you think Joe Biden is capable to be an effective president for 5 more years?
I believe that JB is a figurehead who delegates most of the brainwork to aides and assistants who do a perfectly competent job of running the country. JB has 30 years of experience in DC and - even in his dotage - understands DC far better than most people.

OTOH Trump is a senile, dumdum narcissist who probably couldn't run a koolaid stand without fucking it up.

The proof is in the pudding. JB has successfully run the USA for 3 years. Trump has been sued civilly twice and lost and made a fool of himself both times and much worsened his own legal defence by being a senile, drooling asstwat. He has also been indicted 91 times and will almost certainly be sentenced to jail.

I love and treasure the fact that you prefer Trump to Biden. It's very special of you, Butto.

I agree. By any objective measure Biden has done a fantastic job of governing:
-he cured covid;
-he passed the infrastructure bill;
-he has brought unemployment to an all-time low;
-brought together the NATO allies;
-etc.

Unfortunately, though, I’m not sure that anyone can effectively govern a nation in which about 46% of the population embrace fascism. At this point, I’ll settle for the old guy who is clinging to what’s left of democracy.

Except for the support of genocide, he's doing that on his own and working against the will of his entire party and team, other than a few hard core advisers.

Not true. Biden is aligned with the majority of Dems.

“Last week, the Senate overwhelmingly rejected a proposal from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders to place stricter conditions on U.S. military aid to Israel. The resolution would have mandated the State Department to file a report within thirty days on whether Israel has committed violations of human rights in its campaign in Gaza. It received only eleven votes in the Senate, with the Democratic chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Ben Cardin, calling the resolution’s existence a “gift” to Hamas and Iran.”

That's an important and interesting question. Western societies seem to take longevity for granted. At age 81, Joe Biden's life expectancy is seven years. That obviously doesn't mean he is guaranteed to make it to age 88. If Biden is re-elected, there's about a 38% chance that Kamala Harris becomes the President of the United States in the next five years.

Thinking through it further, do you think octogenarians just quickly fall ill and pass away? More than likely an illness would strike that could be debilitating for many months perhaps even years. This could easily happen during a second Biden term.

It's kind of silly that the usual Biden cheerleaders kind of throw arrows at you Butler for not joining the cheers. Their just "mean girls". The Regina Georges of TERB sort of speak.

Some of this is just facts. Some of it can clearly be observed.

Much more effective than a defective insurrectionist, criminal and rapist.

At the beginning of Dec 76% of dems backed a ceasefire.

This one says 80% of dems back a ceasefire.

Polls clearly show, ANY generic Democrat cleans Trump's clock. So why keep him?
At the very least, why keep Kamala Harris? Most Americans don't think she's qualified to be President. Every time they see signs of Biden's aging, they will be thinking of her stepping into the Presidency.

This is a good time to try to have a non-partisan (hopefully, cough) discussion. There's plenty of time to replace Kamala on the ticket. Do you think some Democratic voters would be upset that a minority woman is being replaced? The usual Democratic playbook would be to replace her with a woman preferably a minority. So perhaps it could be a wash from a demographic perspective.

Does your definition of effectiveness include the preservation of American democracy?
What does Trump's election chances have to do with Biden's advancing age? Why is that the immediate obfuscation of this issue?

In any event, Butler says polls show any other prominent Democrat would handily beat Trump. So why push against this? We're just trying to have an honest discussion. Biden isn't going to get out of the race because some guys on TERB said he is too old.

(My personal preference would be to see Gavin Newsom run for President and stand on his policies in California. It would be interesting to see how that would play across the country.)

Earpy, I don't think the "Biden cheerleaders" are doing this. The prevailing attitude is that Biden is too old for the job, but manages to run America competently, perhaps by delegating extensively to his assistants. And that he has a massive amount of DC insider knowledge, even at his advanced age.

This means he's a better choice than the Orange Alternative. Trump is evidently senile and cannot even behave competently at his trials. And is becoming ever more idiosyncratic in his choices of co-workers. His choice of attorneys for example. In what universe is Habba a competent trial attorney?!?!?!.... Tacopina, who appears crude but competent was quickly fired. That suggests that Trump would make poor cabinet choices if in the WH.

If Biden becomes incapacitated, there is no reason to think that Kamala would fuck up the job of being president.

Trump is also likely to become incapacitated if elected and is clearly in worse physical shape than JB. Look at that huge gut for instance. But even that is not an issue, because Trump currently shows no signs of being a competent president if elected again.

You attempt to defend the GOP by misquoting, distorting and mis-stating the arguments advanced by the Dem supporters.

I recall a time when I disagreed with something you wrote in a colourful way and you bitched, whined, and snivelled about how you prefer more thoughtful discussions like you had with @Valcazar. Thus, I find it kinda odd that you would respond with posts like this.

If things have changed and you want to take the gloves off I am more than happy to accommodate you…it would of course mean that you would need to refrain from crying and snivelling when I light you up. Unfortunately, I think we both know that you are incapable of being any other than what you are.

Have a great day.

Newsom, Whitmer, perhaps someone else.

Here's the problem. Biden has blocked any "new generation" Dems from getting national stage exposure. So the talent pool is not fully known.

Earpy does perform a little, it's true. If true to form, he will avoid responding to my posts and proclaim that I am "attacking him" as the reason.

At the very least, why keep the insurrectionist, criminal and rapist as the GOP Tsar? Every time, tethered to reality, dignity, integrity and sound conscience GOPers ..... oops, gotta stop as there are none of those GOPers left.

You win, marshall.
