I don't think they marched in the Toronto one, but they did in smaller ones, apparently in Ottawa, probably in places like Oshawa or Acton....

It does feel kinda stupid. While Santa is closely tied to Christianity....I think you can make a strong argument that he's more secular today...
I am Jewish and when my kids were younger I took them to the Santa Claus parade every year. It was completely secular.

Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said.

For example, imagine if this was 40 years ago, and I as a brown kid was going to a lily white school, where everyone ate green bean casseroles and I had to open my lunch box with chappathi and chicken tikka masala and put up with the subsequent comments on food smells.

Diversity and representation are needed, especially in schools. Kids don't go to schools to just learn math or science. They go to school to learn subjects and develop social skills through peer interaction which is going to be diverse and complicated out there in the real world. So getting them to grow up as accepting individuals is as much a part of educating a kid as it is imparting technical knowledge.
But, but don't we prefer the Donald's love😍, the POORLY educated???

I could not agree with you more.

Of course, it does not mean that excellence in scholastic topics is not needed.

Can we start with teachers being able to effectively teach math and worry about kids' lunch preferences next?

Nah, schools are for social skills AND scholastic excellence.

Students will learn social skills anyway, let us teach them proper social skills.
