Before the advent of online advertising, the Ottawa Sun or the equivalent in other cities was the main source of advertising. The ads would be some variation on "hot young blonde waiting for you! call xxx-xxxx", but in reality you could end up with anyone. Outcalls were a lot more common back then, probably due to differences in the legal status. The only outright scam that got me was an in-call in Heron Gate I tried; after losing $250 I stuck to outcalls.

Those of you who've only known the dominance of the MA industry now in Ottawa would be pretty surprised at things then, as talking about "erotic massage" was universally just another way of selling sex. I think that industry really started when Jasmin arrived in 2004.

Oral was almost always covered, and kissing on the lips was very rare. The service cost was cheaper, but until about five years ago not that different. The whole "luxury provider" thing didn't really exist, or at least was limited to a select audience.

Because the online scene didn't get going until the late 90s and so there was no review base to draw on, quality was all over the map. Yah there was a certain attraction to picking up a streetwalker because you can see exactly what your getting.
