There was a truce negotiated between Hamas and Netanyahu and hostages on both sides were released.
Israel of course went and re-arrested some and then arrested way more replacements, but Israel had some of their hostages returned.
Netanyahu proved that he can negotiate with Hamas and thats' the only way to return the hostages.
