This in my opinion means 99% a scam.
If they are someone that is new but don't have any reviews, I am sorry.. but you are a super unknown so you don't deserve a deposit.
Someone that has lots of reviews and is super well known.. then it's up to you if you want to send a deposit of not (I am still a no way, in my opinion.)
I mean to each your own..

During conversation I mentioned does she take just cash when would be able to meet a couple of requests as well as a few precautionary questions I was asking to gauge the answer because it did seem too good to be true.
About 20 minutes away I asked to confirm room number Etc and then I got the I'm not going to give that type of answer until I provide at least a certain amount of deposit I gave minor push back then decided I wasted my time and turned around
