Jeezus, tell us how you really feel chickie :D

I have heard this from other people though. Especially visitors from the US or Europe.
But I've also heard it from other Canadians who move here from Montreal, Vancouver or Nova Scotia.
Toronto can be an aloof city. But I think its mostly what you make of it.

Is she right or is she wrong??

In order to fully analyze this situation I require a bikini pic

This is the same for any large city. Social media over the past few years has changed things drastically, everyone is too busy taking selfies (this is where the resting bitch face attitudes come into play, big egos on both sides), online streaming or just online period. Add to the mix of 2020 and the bullshit that followed up until now, covid/lock downs that drastically changed people's behaviours to staying indoors and getting used to sitting on our asses, but not everybody.

Before 2010 things were good, before 2000 things were amazing all over the city, especially our club scene. I'm pretty sure I heard that we had the most clubs in North America per capita or something like that, amazing times and cheap drinks.

This article is from 2011.

If this girl goes to any other major city, she's going to experience the same thing, except maybe L.A. but even then it'll have some of its downfalls as well. Toronto is not what it was 15-20 years ago and beyond that.

She’s absolutely telling the truth. I left Toronto for the exact same reason. I was so lonely, and found impossible to make friends.

in the United States It’s about 10 times easier. People in Toronto are very cold and reserved.

She should stay away from Australia, They are bad at making friends. Once they find out you are not from there its goodbye. Of course not all.

She's a lovely girl.

Lived in Toronto for 8 months when I was younger, the concrete jungle is so depressing.

Now living in Halton region, it's so much better.

I got the vibe when she moved here 'by myself' that she was already lonely looking for a miracle cure.

If she has been out for a drink in a bar, I'll wager only with at least one friend. She is cute but possibly a little insecure and emotionally withdrawn around men. If she is smiling and returns a passing glance from a man with a smile, maybe she would seem more approachable. Men (similar to women) are attracted to a woman who smiles, seems to be enjoying herself and willing to engage in conversation.

Do you think this woman would make the same complaint ?

To all you young people out there, Toronto was the number one city for the Rock & Roll bar scene in the late 50s to the late 60s. Also, young guys had the choice of many weekend dance clubs which were full of young gorgeous girls, great music and cheap booze, Usually left the club with a new girl every time. Ah, those were the days. LOL.

Me thinks this girl really hasn't been around very much. If you make yourself approachable, generally speaking , you'll meet tons of people though I find sometimes it's hit and miss in places across the country. As someone stated earlier she may have issues making herself approachable. But TO is a different vibe and a lot different from small towns across the country. I will say I've had better luck meeting girls who were not born in TO but from outside of town and who had moved downtown. Some of the TO girls I met were hoping to find that superstar athelete or Porsche driving stock broker wearing a Rolex ? I've met a lot of Toronto haters mostly out west. Probably why I never picked up any Canadian/BC girls in Whistler but met friendly American girls there on more than a few occassions. Meeting Alberta born people in Alberta in the 70's was kind of shocking when they found out you were from the "East" but they just hated "The East" in general. Edmonton really sucked in the late 70's when I was there but it's a much nicer city now. Had mostly good times in Montreal on Crescent St and overwhelmed by friendly women on the Grand Alee bar strip in Quebec city. Met a few Rene Levesque wannabees who wouldn't talk English but it was easy to move past them. The waterfront bars in Halifax can be fun if you luck out but Halifax can also be very cold. George St in St John's NL has a great bar scene on the weekends and pretty much everyone there is approachable. Looking back though, going to bars and events in small towns acvross the country was often a lot more fun than I ever thought . I was either there for business or hunting/fishing and would take in the social scenes when things got a little boring. I think mainly because the girls in the small towns that went out looking for guys at night would notice that you were not from there and you were therefore different and they had more modest expectations.

So there is a place where things are exactly as they were 15-20 years a go? Please identify...
