You need a better analogy for what she was doing.
In July, 1991, Paul (Pee-Wee Herman) Reubens was arrested for rubbing one out in a porn movie theater. He had every reason to believe that no children nor Karens would see what he was doing, as the other patrons were most probably tending to their own business.

That seems very different to me. He was masturbating in a theater with many people in the same room, essentially a private business. His semen could have wound up on the seats and floor, creating a health hazard. The woman was masturbating on a public beach, with nobody near her (she thought she was alone).

Sex offender?
She’s hardly a sex offender, she was caught masturbating when she thought nobody was watching.
In public. And as above I'm betting. It was a planned event. She brought a sex toy. If a guy had a fleshlight on the beach same charges. Its not about personal opinion. Its about laws. And really she can't plead ignorance. Its common sense.

The sex offender registries, and their criteria, were pushed forward by women to out and punish men. So yes, unless they change the criteria she deserves to be on it.

Dude, it was an Adult theater. The mop boys are there for a reason, and no sane person go's in and doesn't expect to see it.

As I said. If it was a man flashing/public masterbating where kids could be, and under the law a sex offender issue do you believe the community has the right to see and know? Equality is also about responsibility. So now you have to decide laws not just about MEN, but about PEOPLE. And the community standards and laws apply to all.
I don’t see where I said anything about gender. Was she deemed a sex offender? Was she convicted?

This was of her arrest. Not a warning to the public on a list. There is a difference but again, I am not talking gender. That is the rabbit hole you are trying to dig.

I'm sorry that she killed herself, but the Cops were right to arrest her. If a fat old white guy was sitting on a bench stroking himself no one would bat an eye at the Cops dealing with him.

Well, you’re entitled to your opinion, but I’m sure most people on this board would disagree with your characterization of her as a sex offender.

Its policy now in many places to release body cam footage. Both on public request and to show transparency. The press I assume does this all the time as they recieve the police blotter.

Its actually the guys who are more prone to the gender card in this.

But really would you defend this if it was a dude? Or laugh at his foolishness for getting caught.

The amount of body camera footage we see as the public is minuscule compared to what is collected. It is not “policy” to release everything. Some news source got wind of the story and made a request for it is the most likely scenario.

And again / I don’t see why you keep making this a gender issue.

I also didn’t defend her at all. Where did I do any of that? I’m sad this drove her to commit suicide but that is not defending her.

I’m sorry you seem to be looking for some fight or debate because you keep making assumptions and things that I am simply not saying or doing.

Its not my characterization. Its about equal application of the law. This was clearly brought up just because of her gender. I personally find the registries to be way too extreme and unforgiving. There should be a time limit, offense depending, on how long you stay on it. And yes, for misdemeanor charges like this, not on for first offenses.

But the law is the law. Gender is no longer a factor.
