It looks like thedirty(dot)com has gone tits up. It's been five weeks now since the site was online, and the pre-2017 gossip archives are gone, as well.
I had a great time posting in the comments there for about six weeks from late November, 2016 until the first week of January, 2017, when nik richie was still hosting.
Later in January, 2017, the site went way downhill for several months, trying to be a clone of TMZ. Around that same time, the site was banned from the disqus message boards. All pre-2017 stories were moved to an archive, but, (unfortunately), all of the comments were purged.
thedirty had a brief resurgence near the end of 2017, before nik sold the site. I saw on nik's wikipedia bio page that he had started to develop symptoms of multiple sclerosis in 2015, so that likely had some impact on his decision to move on. I wrote a couple of stories in late 2017 about people I've never met which made the front page.
The site went steadily downhill after that, and I don't think any comments were published in the past five years or so. They were frequently the best part of the site. disqus boards have a voting system, so the top-rated comments appear at the top, as opposed to in chronological order, as is done here.
