Ottawa police have laid several charges against a 29-year-old man after a local rabbi reported a threatening phone call.
Police said in a news release that they received a complaint Friday about a threatening phone call to a religious leader. A man was arrested on Saturday.
Rabbi Idan Scher, the Senior Rabbi of Congregation Machzikei Hadas in Ottawa, told CTV News Ottawa that he had received the threatening phone call and reported it to police.

Jim Henderson, 78, who served with the British army in Northern Ireland, was manning his stall at Edinburgh’s Waverley station over the weekend, trying to raise money for Poppyscotland, a charity that provides support for current and former members of the military, as well as their families.
But Henderson was helpless when a sea of demonstrators poured into the station.
“I was getting shoved backwards, in danger of falling, and one of them stood on my foot and split my toe,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I thought I had got to get the money out of here,” Henderson recalled. “So I went down, and as I bent down, someone punched me in the back. And then I got another punch in my side.”

Carrie Silverberg, a CUPE member of 17 years, said she's endured years of mental anguish in the union, particularly when she took on an executive position in a local and started attending conventions nearly a decade ago.
“I basically felt alienated, isolated and alone,” Silverberg said on Monday, after her concerns that the antisemitism encouraged in the union were silenced, she added.
