Is there literally nowhere else to get tested anonymously other than hassle free in Toronto? I like hassle free, but the results take forever

You have already asked this. In your check up thread and in a STD quick results.

but I will try again.

NO - there is no other way. Period.

Go to a doctor for faster results and give your name or be anonymous and wait the time. Those are your choices. That’s it. So now you have to choose for yourself.

Money is not an issue. If there are other ways, let’s hear it

TeleTest. You order your tests and pay online. They give you a form you can take to a testing centre like LifeLabs. TeleTest gives you the results online. Quick and Easy. And unlike Hassle Free, you do not have to endure lectures or dirty looks (at least that's what I had to suffer when I went to Hassle Free).

Correct. If you go to life labs, they will ask for your health card. Your results will be linked to your health card. If test is positive it is reported to public health. Partners have to be notified, whether by you, or public health.

It’s crazy though that in a big city like Toronto there is only one place where you can get tested anonymously (i.e., hassle free).

If I got to life labs and I test positive, how will my so know? Please help me break this down. I am trying to assess the risk of going to life labs?

Thanks a lot guys. This forum has been incredibly helpful to someone new like me

Positive results get reported to public health, and they can do contact tracing. I’m not sure how they do it, but imagine it might start with contacting you, to see who your partners are who need to be notified. I believe at times, the person infected can choose to notify partners. I suppose you could lie, and say you have only had sex with one random person before you were tested, and don’t know how to contact them. Before you ask, I have no idea if they verify if you have actually done this, or if you are telling the truth. I don’t know how deep they go in such investigations.

But here’s the thing. You seem to be worried you have got something. You are petrified your SO will find out. So say you test positive for something. What are you going to do? Not tell her so she can get tested and treated? Ethics aside, say you don’t tell her, knowing she’s probably been infected by you, how are you going to not get infected again? You gotta think this through a bit. So ya, HFC is anonymous, but what are you going to do with a positive test result if that happens? Just keep it secret? Spike her cornflakes with antibiotics?? 🤦‍♂️

I tested negative last month. The only reason I am trying to get tested again is because I just had a high risk event where the condom slipped off. I am not going to have sex with the SO until I know I am negative to ensure that she is not infected in case I am positive. That’s why I am looking for somewhere that can test me anonymously and ideally with fast results.

I figured this was the case, given your post about condom slippage.

Well in that case, you have two choices. Go to HFC, and get tested. If the turnaround takes a while, you’ll just have to fake a headache or something till you get your result. Or if you want the faster turnaround, get your test thru your doc, or one of the online testing things At lifelabs. You have no other sexual contacts since the event, so if / when you are contacted by public health, just tell them that. You could even go through your family doc, be honest with them, say you had a one off encounter, something happened and you want to be tested. Tell them you have not had sex with anyone since. They have an ethical and legal obligation to keep your info confidential from anyone else including the SO, even if you have thesame doctor. Trust me I imagine that every doctor has heard some way more fucked up shit than you are dealing with.

TBH, I’m not actually sure how aggressively public health goes after partner notification, I imagine the logistics and cost and time must be huge, so I imagine it’s relatively low risk to you.Just get tested and reassure yourself and get on with your life.

Thanks for this advice. I am planning to inquire with my family doctor whether they have me as married or single. How would he or public health even know if I am married or single?

I also found this - https://www.better2know.ca/

They claim that they are a private company.. totally anonymous. Just have to pay for it which I have no issue with.

I hope they are legit.

They also seem to make a big deal about the incubation periods. Even make you agree before the booking (by checking a check box) that you are aware of the incubation periods. Not sure what to make of that.

Please check it out guys. Might be an option for us all when we need something quick.

It’s so that they don’t get sued after you test negative, during the incubation period, then infect someone else.

That makes sense - regarding the suing. When I went to hassle free, they said they can test 48 hours after exposure. In fact, it had only been 36 hours and they said that is close enough and tested me. Now I am reading about these long incubation periods for chlamaydia and gonohrea. When do you guys think one can get tested with fairly accurate results?
