Do you have veneers on your teeth?

Thinking of getting veneers in the next 5 years to have pearly whites that natural teeth can never really achieve after years of tea and coffee. Not a huge fan of the acidic teeth whitening and they have limitations.

I've researched veneers and they seem to have little negative impact on your original teeth. I've never had a cavity and they don't appear to impact the risk either.

Most celebrities get them including the most famous athlete in the world. Mind you, he had less than ideal teeth to begin with so the change for him was dramatic.

My dentist wants to crown my front teeth. I don't smile a lot, but when I do I drink Dos Equis. Actually my four front teeth are pretty much warn down. Don't know why. Not enough tooth there for veneer. So it has to be crowns. I have been putting it off, because at the moment they are real teeth. Having them ground down to spikes and then capped is off putting.

Op, thanks for starting this thread. I have real dental anxiety. I was just starting to look on line about dental implants. I haven’t been to a dentist (for decades) and have finally worked up the nerve to do so. I am preparing for the worst. Maybe veneers might be an option. I am curious to find out about the possibilities and the pros and cons.

I came across a video on YouTube that got me thinking about it.

The lesson is don't be too anxious and don't feel too self-conscious to take action (everyone has insecurities). Dentists see this stuff all the time. Let them know what your concerns are.

Some people in my family love going to the dentist and love the scraping feeling while having their teeth cleaned. I find it a bit uncomfortable but not enough to keep me away.

Regardless of the condition of your teeth, the dentist will know what to do to make you look brand new. You'll love the new look and perhaps more importantly your health will benefit from it.

In this hobby, dental health is extremely important if you want to partake in DFK. This means SP's too. SP sessions are at least $250/hr - if we all have that kind of money to hobby, we all certainly have enough money to see a dentist regularly.

No one likes dragon breath. Smells like :poop:.

are veneers resistant to coffee/other food stain? I have crowns on my bottom teeth and they are always getting stained from coffee.

Porcelain veneers are resistant to staining, are the whitest, and look the most realistic. The problem I have with it is that they have to shave down a tiny bit of enamel on your teeth to stick them on and therefore once you get porcelain veneers, there's no going back.

I don't like the thought of altering my teeth unless absolutely necessary. And this is a want rather than a need, to enhance appearance.

But there are lumineers veneers - "These are made with a new type of composite resin that is stronger than traditional porcelain and allows for thinner layers to be used for a natural-looking veneer. This makes them an ideal solution if you have one or more teeth that require some minor fix-ups before they look their best."

No shaving of enamel is required, it's faster to put on, and they can be removed at a later date. They won't be quite as white as porcelain veneers because they're thinner and not as opaque.

Everyone is different but I think I'd opt for the lumineers.

deffo.
My dentist bugs me about getting my caps done. I explained the worry about having my front teeth being whittled down to tooth picks and having a crown glued over them. My reason being, if I get punched in the mouth I imagine the teeth would just snap off. He said "so don't get punched in the mouth" I said, "sometimes it's unavoidable".
