I don't know much about these dogs but they do look like pitbulls. 80-120 LBS.

UK Kennel Club does not recognize breed, but argues no breed is inherently dangerous

American XL Bully dogs will be banned in the United Kingdom after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak referred to them as a "danger to our communities" Friday.

The move comes after a public outcry following a series of recent attacks, including one that seriously injured an 11-year-old girl.

Sunak has asked government ministers to legally define the characteristics of the American XL Bully with the assistance of police and canine experts. The breed is not recognized by groups such as the Kennel Club in Britain or the American Kennel Club in the United States.

"It is not currently a breed defined in law, so this vital first step must happen fast,’’ Sunak said in a video statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. "We will then ban the breed under the Dangerous Dogs Act, and new laws will be in place by the end of the year.’’

A man was killed in an attack Thursday that may have involved an American XL Bully.

"The American XL Bully dog is a danger to our communities, particularly our children,’’ Sunak said. "I share the nation’s horror at the recent videos we’ve all seen.’’

Pitbull terriers, Japanese tosas, dogo Argentinos and fila Brasileiros are currently banned in the United Kingdom, according to The Associated Press.

Of coarse it’s not the dog.

My boy, is way up there too. So obviously it’s owners and training too.

weird, despite other breeds having more bite force. Being bigger, stronger, smarter, loved by law enforcement and Armed forces.

and while certainly not as popular as bullies ( a lot of breeds fall victim to this) don’t hear about horrific stories with them as much.

maybe it’s all the above?

Friend of mine had a Dogo. Recently passed away. Had the dog for 13 years with not one problem. Of course my friend is a really good guy who is friendly with everybody. Smokes a lot of weed, lol.

Have another friend who has two rescue dogs. One from Louisiana, A Cane Corso / Mastiff cross. I've never seen a more alpha dog in look and temperament. He's 160lb's. He'd been rehomed twice before my friend. No one could control him. Amusingly him and I got along right from the get go. I didn't let him show dominance over me. Anyways my friends other rescue is a husky/Shepard cross. The first year they were together there was some major fights. A few thousand dollars in vet bills. Thankfully he doesn't have many visitors but the ones he had didn't have any issues. Bottom line is that through some extensive training by my friend both are like the complete opposite of what they were when they first arrived.

Now another friend has a Pitbull. Once taking a walk with his female on a leash another dog broke free and ran up barking aggressively to my friend and the Pitbull killed the other dog with one bite. My friend felt terrible and worked out financial compensation with the other owner. That was about 10 years ago and there haven't been any other incidents.

Yet another friend had a Dogo/ Cane Corso mix. It had a thing for squirrels but not people. Everything was fine until a drunk driver ran him down up in the country one day.

The moral of the story is owners make a difference....But these dogs have the genetics to inflict severe damage. In the wrong hands bad outcomes are likely possible.

A side note. I know a bunch of people who since Covid gather in a local park and their dogs run leash free. It's not a dog park so technically against the law in my city. It's somewhat secluded though. There's about 4 Labs, 2 Bernese Mountain dogs, Labradoodles, Corgis, Collies....You get the idea...In all the times I've been out with this group I've never seen one incident. Not one and I doubt I ever will...Passive breeds with good owners. So there's that.
