All the more reason to put tolls up. If they come to the city to work and play. They can pay for it.
You’re not tracking; Downtown is a shithole. If you make people pay to come downtown they will work/play elsewhere, then downtown and TO get less revenue and become a deeper shithole.
How about charging for car licenses? Ford made the licensing free, forgoing all that revenue, but leaving all the cost to license them in place.

I see it as money to be had and a Service Ontario infrastructure already in place to fulfill the collection. There's a lot more money there than licensing a few thousand bicycles, and you don't have to hire more police officers to start pulling over 10 year olds riding their bike around their subdivisions.
Cyclists use roads, cyclists can pay for roads.

Bike lane usage needs to operate with a transponder mounted to the bike just like the 407.
Make them pay for the expensive creation of the bike lanes and the usage completely clogging up the free flow of car traffic....and that congestion of cars creates more pollution so obviously slap a massive carbon tax on the bike lane transponders/usage because we all know the science says paying a tax def fixes the climate.

Frivolous and Wasted spending? So where exactly do you think Toronto can cut $1.5 Billion dollars from easily?
A very tiny example is the recent signage to announce alcohol allowed in parks. Two people complained they were too big so now they are being scrapped. Thats $20,000 wasted over two idiots.

The point being the casual attitude shown by Shelley Carrol to do this is kind of thing is rife over city hall.

Bikes take way less space, if you replace every bike on the road with another car you're not getting anywhere.

Gonna work so well here in southern Ontario from November to April ❄❄☃
Taxing the shit outta the bike lane users is the only way to save Toronto.
Also an immigrant tax.
Other than 2-3 weeks of snow you can bike all year pretty easily.
I think taxing the shit out of people in the burbs would be way smarter.
Add in tolls on the QEW and 401

OK, that $20,000. You have $1,499,980,000 to go.

This isn't as easy as some of you make it out to be. Major decisions must be made to straighten things out.

Unlike anyone else, Chow is bringing this to the forefront and giving ultimatums.

This is the faults of Federal and Provincial government.

Actually taxing the shit outta all the lefties who voted for Chow seems to be a more logical solution.

The only solution is more taxes, unfortunately.

hold on
“The city is experiencing a significant immediate and long-term financial crisis: an estimated $1.5 billion starting pressure for the 2024 operating budget and $29.5 billion in capital needs, which both form part of a $46.5 billion shortfall over the next 10 years,” the city said Thursday.
$29.5 billion is a lot of capital needs , what they spending that on ?

The 2023 operating budget is $16.17 billion
the population of the city is 3.25 MM so they are spending $5,000 per Torontonian (every Man, Women, Child) just in operating costs

this is not a revenue problem, it is a spending problem

Taxes on a 1.3 million property in Toronto 3800…. Same thing in peel 6000…. There’s the problem
Compare the population of toronto proper to peel. A lot less people paying property tax so it makes sense.

Giving ultimatums? And what exactly will she do if they say no?
