Many years ago the Walmart near me had a few self checkouts. Then they got rid of them, a few years later they put them back in. This time they put in more than they previously had.
Personally I prefer self checkouts. Much quicker.

They are only figuring this out now? Corporate intelligence is really at rock bottom.

With rising food prices and grocery stores making record profits, customers are taking their own piece of the pie. Here is a cost savings tip for enterprising shoppers: just enter code for bananas when weighing fruit at the self check out. You’re welcome!

I think the original rationale for self-serve checkouts (same as ATM's) was to save on labour cost.

I think Whole Food is entirely self-serve.

Starsky’s is having a good laugh at the stupid American & Canadian grocery stores. Starsky’s has no self checkouts, still provides plastic bags, has efficient cashiers, and plenty of eye candy at the checkouts.

Yeah the amazon store in seattle is wild. You use your amazon account to enter the store.. you take what you want and leave. They can tell what you took through cameras and sensors. Its so fast. The worst part of the grocery store is the checkout.

Do we have that kind of store in Toronto/GTA? Equivalent?

My moral code can't be bought for the price of a banana, so no thanks.

I can't believe that there are people gullible enough to think that removing plastic shopping bags from stores will actually have any effect on the environment.

Almost all of the items in the store are wrapped in plastic, heavy duty plastic and not the biodegradable kind shopping bags can be made from.

I used to use plastic shopping bags for my kitchen garbage. Now I have to buy plastic garbage bags. So the ban was useless. Everybody still needs plastic bags for garbage. Out with 1 type of plastic bag, in with another plastic bag.
ANother stupid government decision.

Somewhere between here and there
I was at Walmart recently and the line for check out were crazy so I went to self check out. I had something that wouldn't scan $29.99 when I asked for help which took 5 minutes the person couldn't figure it out and put in in manually but made a mistake and put it through at $2.99 - I wasn't going to correct him.

Actually it would be price of mangoes. But I understand you are of high moral standard. Why else would you be bantering on an escort review board. :ROFLMAO:
Could be because I count the non-sensual act of thievery as immoral, and not the consensual acts in this industry. What's your argument? That since we engage in this industry, all bets are off? Nothing is immoral anymore?

Plus statistics and studies have shown that the majority of plastics that are in the ocean come from coastal population centers, and third world countries. Not population centers that are inland, even if they have rivers and streams.

So..............why am I being punished living in Ontario when the polluters are those near the coast and in third world countries?

I assume you don't watch the Disney anymore? It makes Sodom and Gomorrah appear tame. And Netflix is basically prime time Pornhub. The term immoral is so 18th Century. And that's why they (the corporations) should have known Self-Checkouts were going to be an absolute money pit. Immorality is not a buffet - these things are all immoral, no matter what you pick for dinner. (I thought that pun was very clever. Get it?? Lmao)

Stay frost bro. (It's gonna get real hot soon! If you know what I mean! 🔥:devilish:🔥)

It completely makes no sense at all, unless they are trying to make our life just a little harder with all their stupid ideas.

You would think that just by mistake they will come up with something that will make life easier.

I used to collect all my garbage bags and once a year drive to Halifax and throw them into the ocean, but can't even do that anymore. :)

You mean you are willing to risk a beating from a couple of EI's with a five foot broom handle so that you can get a couple of kiped mangos?
