Gang crime is one thing. But the larger issue is mass shooters killing children in schools or shooting up people in malls.
And that's what's often lost in these discussions. Most people don't care about criminals killing criminals (except when they can use it to score political points).

Gang activity is something that most people don't do so it's not something that seems real to us. Mass shootings worry people because yes, we actually do things like go to malls and schools.

Complaining about gangsters is simply a way to avoid discussing an actual problem that keeps raising it's head.

Cars: Registered, licensed, insured. Is that the line of argument you want to take?

And that doesn't even get into the fact that cars have an essential use other than as a way to kill.
LOL, sure, if nothing else, humiliating you can sometimes be entertaining.

Cars don't have to be drained of fuel and rendered inoperable when they're parked overnight. Vehicle owners aren't criminally charged if their vehicle is broken into and stolen.

Vehicle registration doesn't exist to support a future confiscation scheme. Vehicle licensing isn't a subsection of the Criminal Code.

Insurance? Shooting ranges have some of the cheapest insurance rates, it's almost as if licensed, vetted and trained people take safety seriously, or something.

"Universal background checks" don't occur with vehicle (or alcohol) purchases; tell me the last time you heard of the seller of a private auto sale even checking a prospective buyer's abstract and I'll regale you with a fake moose hunting story.

Gang violence makes up the overwhelming bulk of gun violence; that is the problem that keeps raising its head.

But sure, pat yourself on the back for focusing on a fraction of a single digit percentage.

Said by internet warriors not aware how far down that food chain they are.
Says the guy that just keeps arguing and arguing. Has zero first hand practical knowledge but argues with those who have way more, tries to tell them what is better for them…., very limited theoretical, limited hands on with existing/laws and regulations, and no data that supports your arguments.

Am I missing something?

Says the guys that just keeps proving over and over how little he actually knows.

Just one or if not the WORST mass shootings in Toronto. Surprised you didn’t know about it. ACTUALLY READ this one. All of it. There’s gang shit all the way through it, right into THE USA
Proving just how little you know..who’s the internet warrior?

And seems to struggle with the fact, that 80% of crime guns (do you know the definition of that? I’m thinking not fiven you don’t understand why bangers are the problem) are smuggled from the U.S. who do you think is doing that smuggling, buying/selling…..Proving how little he actually knows…..

So yes “basket case” maybe you should be.
Because when even the cheif of police says it, when even the cheif of police also tells you that of the shootings in 2020….300 of them were out on bail….

Obviously you know better than him to…

And yep. If you want to blame something, anyone, blame yourself and everyone else like you that was convinced you knew better. Fighting for what you think ( usually with no data) stood in the way etc, The bloods on your hands.

Because if you had listened, as far back as Y2K.
The Eaton centre. The lady the other day, like 16 year old Jane Creba, Nove Scotia, and soooooooooooooooooooioooooooooooooooooooooooooooo very many more. May not, probably wouldn’t have. Certainly far fewer would have

happened.

good job

It's nice to see that you support gun deaths. You oppose every suggestion and offer no realistic suggestions. How else could anyone interpret your stance?

"People die, but I don't give a shit since I'm happy with the status quo" is how you're posts read.

I’ve asked many times for years. For “solutions” supported by data. At this point anything.
And all you got is pie in the sky. And or deflections from the actual problem. See your last worthless reply…

Let’s hear yours…with support

And to put this into perspective.
That’s all a lot of us, have been asking for. Including the victims that keep piling up, have been asking for…..for 20 years. Is that too much an ask?

same old same old.

No ideas supported by anything. Just “pie in the sky”. Hopes and prayers and deflection from the actual problem.

Wait, you're talking about one of the most publicized public shootings in Canada where an innocent victim got caught by a stray bullet to make the point that people only care about gang violence when non-gangsters get in the way. Could have sworn that was exactly what I was saying.

Or are you just rambling on to an new thing to complain about now?

How asinine does one have to be to think that anyone who doesn't routinely go out to shoot animals can't have an opinion on the role of guns in society. I think you're just salty because you can't justify whey hunters need semi-autos. I get it. You like going bang bang bang but I don't see that as a reason to counter the threat guns pose.

Just to play devils advocate here.....this also could've happened with a knife or some other object-turned-weapon. If she premeditated the plan, she was going to do it regardless if a gun was available or not. A gun, in my opinion, just made it easier I suppose.

Look at the UK, practically no one owns a gun there, even the police force don't use guns. But, the crime rate for murders and violence involving knives is exponential. The violence surrounding knife violence is causing the English government to consider banning knives.

So you'd support guns being registered and gun owners requiring insurance just to keep the car analogy? Or are you complaining that guns are required to be locked up and unloaded?

I know you have a paranoia that "they" are coming to take your guns and turn you communist but most people can figure out the differences. The purpose of cars has absolutely nothing to do with killing and are almost a requirement for anyone not living in a big city yet are extremely heavily regulated.

The Liberal government announced another round of prohibitions, but it's somehow still just a "conspiracy"

The funny thing is you're pissed off about me posting specifically because I've posted against guns. I've been quite clearly advocating for even stricter regulations on handguns which are the choice in gang violence as well as stronger border enforcement. I've also bee quite vocal in my opposition to the US gun industry which is the source for most of the guns used by them.

I've seen a lot of complaining from you about why restrictions on guns are evil but I can't remember once seeing you discuss how we can keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

How many innocent Canadians have been killed in gang shootouts in the past five years? How many Canadians have been killed by other mass shooters in the same time?

Lets see. The old guy in Vaughn who shot up his condo board, the cop who got killed at Tim Hortons and a second victim, the guy out in BC shooting homeless people, the NS shootings. I'm sure I can google some more if you want

Your so full of it Basketcase it’s not funny.
issue one. When hunters try to explain something to you…all you can do is no, you’re wrong why would a hunter rush a shot. Etc and so on. You’ve also demonstrated your lack of actual knowledge…many times. Your expertise is limited to drinking at a camp, shooting at paper a couple times and “best of “…Not realizing manufacturers pay big money to advertise in those magazines….and writers…….um.

Mr keyboard warrior…

I can also find and quote things. You will not find a single reference of me being against GC and more.

Are you now saying you didn’t say.
nd that's what's often lost in these discussions. Most people don't care about criminals killing criminals (except when they can use it to score political points).

Gang activity is something that most people don't do so it's not something that seems real to us
hence why I specifically linked the Eaton Centre. Including the fact one of the bangers went back to the US…or maybe was there on business. Does that seem real” enough to you

And if you think, the black market business is only about bangers….don’t know what to say on that.
and on
And on
And on
And on

The fact you and others just can’t seem to grasp is that for 20 years…these debates have been raging.while bodies are piling up and nothing

nothing

has been done about the actual problems..
Problems guns owners have been years saying “do something!!” But nope. “You guys fight for bans and more gC.
One won’t work, the other not needed.

In short, your Canadas version of the nRA and why nothing gets done there…and here as the case may be..

Guns are much more heavily regulated than cars, if you think otherwise, you haven't been paying attention.
