Yes, it is possible per the SCOTUS' recent judgment.could go the way of Roe vs Wade. "Is it possible that admission to U.S. universities will be based strictly on merit and not race?"
Affirmative action in jeopardy as U.S. justices raise doubts | CTV News
Canadian universities never had (officially) affirmative action. So, no need to get rid of something that never existed. However, some Canadian universities did have a quota on Jewish students but that was before my time.Right wing Canadians will celebrate it, because it is the closest they can come to experiencing their right wing utopia.
Just a hunch but based upon that post I am guiessing you do not score well on IQ tests.I also heard that IQ tests are unfair because smarter people tend to have higher scores.

More correlated is how much money your parents have. You really need to re-visit your opinion. IQ (intelligence) is correlated with later success in life. ...
Waterloo and some other schools have coop programs. We hire one or two every Summer.waterloo is a good example of merit trumping race
If you believe that then you have no clue about the admissions policy and criteria.waterloo is a good example of merit trumping race
if a recruit has a low IQ the US Army finds him/ her counterproductive and punts him/ herIQ tests don't mean much as they are just standardized tests that test math, data or pattern interpretation etc., which is academic at best. This has nothing to do with problem solving abilities or success later on in life.
Example 1:
It is generally agreed that Einstein was a genius and had a very high IQ. If you were to take Einstein however and put him in the African bush, he will probably end up dead by morning, when tribals who live in the region know how to survive. Aka, they know how to problem solve in that environment better than Einstein. The same tribals would probably score very low on an actual IQ test because they are uneducated and therefore don't know math or fare poorly at the modern workplace.
Example 2:
From my own personal life. There was this guy I used to go to school with and was in the same class from kindergarten to 12th grade, back in India where I grew up. He was not that smart and he did not really score that well in school. Fast forward to today, he is now a music composer (we did not have any idea he had any music skills when we were in school) in the Indian film industry. Drives a lambo and makes approx. $5M a year, way ahead of the rest of us who consistently had higher scores than him. I would show you his wiki page, but I will refrain in order to maintain discretion.
do not be ridiculousLegacies simply insure that schools remain the domain of "our kind of people".
because race, gender are both irrelevant to judging a persons characterWhy would you want to exclude race, gender and many other criteria.
Not sure why you feel you need to repeat falsehoodsNot sure why I have to keep repeating that marks alone do not make the best candidate for anything and marks today are culturally biased.
Wait a minute. Are you suggesting that legacy students are not getting in on merit alone. Next you will be suggesting that the child of someone who endows a building or makes a large contribution is not being admitted on merit alone. Say it ain't so.How elite US schools give preference to wealthy and white 'legacy' applicants

Of course not. I would much rather have a surgeon who got in because his/her father went to that school.Question: Do you want an Affirmative Action surgeon to operate on your heart?

How about addressing and getting rid of both?I sense a certain level of hypocrisy with certain posters, who don’t like affirmative action, because it might give a university spot to a visible minority, but they are just fine with legacy students who may not be as qualified taking a spot from a more qualified student.
Sure, I’ve been seeing that all along. How about addressing and getting rid of both?
