Romanian prosecutors have sent divisive internet personality Andrew Tate, his brother Tristan and two other suspects to trial on charges of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
The anti-organised crime prosecution’s unit (DIICOT) on Tuesday “ordered the indictment” of the four defendants for offences, including “setting up an organised criminal group … trafficking in persons … rape”, they said.
Andrew Tate has also been charged with raping one of the victims, while his brother Tristan has been charged with instigating others to violence.
The Tate brothers and two Romanian female suspects are under house arrest pending a criminal investigation for abuses committed against seven women, accusations they have denied.
The four were held in police custody from December 29 until March 31, before a Bucharest court put them under house arrest.
The trial will not start immediately.
Several women have spoken out about their alleged ordeals, accusing the brothers of misogyny and abuse.
Under Romanian law, the case gets sent to the court’s preliminary chamber, where a judge has 60 days to inspect the case files to ensure legality.
The Tate brothers, former kickboxers who have US and British nationality with millions of online followers, are the highest profile suspects to be sent to trial in Romania for human trafficking.
Prosecutors have said the Tate brothers recruited their victims by seducing them and falsely claiming to want a relationship or marriage.

I've seen videos from both her and him dealing with this subject. She's stated that she got in touch with him because she wanted to know more about pay walls and creating website content. He suggested she come to Romania for a visit. I believe she was either in Croatia or Germany at the time. Anyways she agreed and he flew to Romania. She said they spent a day where he showed her the sites...The castles and history. She flew back the next day I believe. He when asked directly on a podcast if he slept with her said no. He said she was a very nice person and he was impressed by her. When pressed about whether he was being truthful that he didn't sleep with her. He laughed and confirmed once again that he didn't. I like Mikhaila. She's doesn't have the intelligence of her dad but is more relatable. She doesn't try to pretend to be anything that she is not. She's had a tough go of it with the autoimmune disorder. She hasn't put out much content in the last few months because of it. Doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous as well.
It's good now that the Tates have been charged. Now they will have to release the evidence against them and they have a chance to defend themselves.
