What to do about declining sex drive?

Hey folks,

I'm around 40 and have found that my sex drive has just plummeted in recent years. I have almost no inclination
for sex at all, whereas when I was in my 20's (and especially teens) I was basically ravenous.

I use a half tab of Viagra when I do have sex and that does seem to help but I'm just not enjoying the experience as much
as I used to. I have some extra belly fat that I need to get rid of but I'm not obese or anything.

Is there anything I can do here? I know getting older is part of life but I imagine there are some 40 year old guys who can keep
a healthy sex life going.

Thanks so much.

I'm 42. My sex drive is the same it was when I was 22...

Sleep (7-8 hours a night)

Exercise (cardio and weights 4-5 days a week for a good hour per session)

Eating good food especially green vegetables

Take a supplement like Mr T Testosterone Boost by athletic Alliance. It's sold at GNC

When was the last time you had a physical by your doctor? Tell him your problem and let him run a full blood test spectrum including testosterone.
if you've been under any stress lately that can also have an effect on desire and performance. Get rid or minimize the stress can = an increase desire for sex and desire for having some fun.

Even if you test results come back good, including your testosterone levels, there are some male clinics that deal specifically in issues you describe.

I second the comment about exercise for sure.
Garlic may help. Athough I do not come from a garlic family, these days I take it. Remember, it is much more powerful if you cut it up and wait 10 to 15 minutes.
Heated tomatoes(try to steam for 15 minutes) and pumpkin seeds(zinc) for the prostate. Prostate supplements include Super Prostate and Saw Palmetto.

Lack of sex drive could simply be a lack of new stimulus.
I don`t think you would have a lack of sex drive if you had hot girls throwing themselves at you.
Paying for sex can turn me off, but the sex I can get for free often doesn`t turn me on.

There's definitely a physical difference from when I was younger. If I see a beautiful woman there's just
no thrust to the feeling. I recognize she's hot but there's nothing (or very little) behind it.

When you get older you have to stay lean to keep your sex drive.

Being a cigarette smoking blubbery blob, I had a heart attack two years ago, at the time my sex drive was almost gone. So I started incline training on the trails, since then I've dropped 32 lbs and can pitch a tent when required. Try to eat foods that are rich in potassium and zinc: oysters, mango and bananas are very good source. I also recommend taking magnesium pills...but not if you stay sedate.

There are days where I don't feel like hitting the trails, Donnie motivates me....see yah gotta run.

Mine completely dropped after my heart attack during COVID. I am 64. I am going for MRI of prostate next week as I have family history of prostate cancer. Also once I started Stating it is getting better but not the way it was 2 years ago, CAD have big impact on sexual drive,

Exercise to increase testosterone is probably the most important factor.

Especially if you have belly fat. The belly fat corresponds with an increase in female hormones.

Here are some reasons men tend to carry a few extra pounds in their belly.

Low Testosterone Levels

Belly fat and low testosterone are known to be linked with each other. As many men age their testosterone levels tend to decrease and they tend to gain more belly fat. Body fat has an enzyme called aromatase that converts testosterone into estrogens. When someone has higher estrogen levels in their body, their hormonal system tells the body to slow down its production of testosterone. Less testosterone tends to mean more belly fat. It's common for men to lose testosterone as they age, however weight gain can accelerate the process. Staying active and eating healthy can help men avoid the annoying habit of developing the infamous "pot belly."

I hope your MRI is all clear. Since we've both been through it, I'd like to correspond. Are you on any sort of food plan? I'm a diabetic, Ozempic is pruning my stomach. My niece's husband's brother required two stents, he's dropped 30 lbs on the Novak Djokovic meal plan.
