Sorry to see the Camaro leaving. All of the automakers are shifting their focus to electric vehicles.

Camaro, Firebird, Trans Am = Geezer mobile. How many of these vehicles were bought back many years ago by guys saying that one day it will be a collectors item?
How many of these vehicles were driven into the ground until they were worth scrap metal salvage prices. Any of these cars that are are worth any money is because time and money was put into it to maintain its value that the owners may or may not get back.

99.9999% of cars are not a worthwhile investment.

Broader question. Does anyone drive GM, Ford, Chrysler passenger vehicles or SUVs? No one I know even considers those vehicles. Models on the roads are mostly German, Japanese and South Korean. Trucks are mostly American name plates.

Out of the three I do love Ford though. They make awesome vehicles. For me I always love Mercedes or Ford.

GM did good with the Camaro when they resurrected it back in 2010 with the fifth generation.

But they kind of dropped the ball with the sixth generation frankly. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it just lost it in the looks department.

As muscle cars go, the top of the heap, by far, would be the Ford Mustang. Then the Dodge Challenger and a distant third would be the Camaro.

Yep. The Camero is saying good bye.
The Charger and the Challenger are going electric after 2023.
The only gas powered Big block Muscle car that will be left after that is the Mustang. Ford has plans to continue it until 2025 at least, with a likelihood it will go beyond that.

It's appropriate. The car that started the muscle car revolution winds up being the only one left at the end.

Would never drive a car other than the Mustang...I have two dodge Rams...for contract work and personal use....personal use is for hauling my boat to the lake or carrying paddle board and kayaks on it...Once I stop doing contract work, I'd be trading one truck with a tesla crossover or go with the Mustang...

Maybe I'm showing my age, but I can't see muscle car guys opting for electric. Just can't see it, even if they are faster. They just don't have it. I suspect that the traditional muscle car guys will just continue with the cars they have, buy used cars going forward, maybe even buy one just before the swtich over. But going electric? I don't see it. And I think the auto manufacturers are going to be surprised how few electric cars they sell in the future. I can just imagine speculators buying the last ICE muscle cars and sports cars and putting them in a barn for 10 years and then seling them for millions at Barret Jackson.

Even the Europeans are now openly questioning the mindset of going all electric.

What about the Vette ?
I've not been in one. I'm much more a fan of the C2 or even C3 to be honest.

However, by all accounts the C8 is an amazing car. An example of the art of automotive engineering. When you see one on the road, you definitely notice it. (Unlike C4 thru C7, which to be honest, I can't really identify the generation when I do see them.)

Took the words right out of my mouth. There's going to be a huge rise in popularity (and price) of ICE vehicles once everything goes EV. That is if it ever does.

In the 70's and 80's....it was common to see young guys and muscle cars. Times changes. Kids think they look cool on BMW's and Mercedes now. (They don't...)

When the boomer go away... so do their muscle cars. The new generations will be happy with the new tech.

I"m not so sure about this 2035 deadline to be all electric. I just see it as some arbitrary deadline that when it's 2033 or so, they just kick the can down the road because there is no choice. It's all well and good to say, "2035 we need to be all electric", however, there's a pile of disadvantages to electric cars that need to be sorted out. Namely charging times.

When the engineers come up with a battery that can charge in about the same amount of time as it takes to fill a tank of gas, get me the same range as a tank of gas and at the same cost as ICE, I and probably most people will be there with bells on. But I don't think that's going to be possible. From purely a physics point of view. They will need to come up with an entirely different charging system than that which is currently being proposed. Not to mention that I read the other day that there isn't enough lithium in the world to make all the batteries. (Who knows if that's true.)

Even now, the Europeans are starting to grumble at the development costs and the reality of electric cars.

You couldn’t be more right. Car manufacturers need to pay attention to what the market actually desires. Sure those green tree huggers are loud - screaming down everyone else. But just look at the billion dollar franchise of the seemingly endless Fast and Furious movies. They are all about gas fueled cars. Electric cars does make for an exciting movie. They’re sewing machines for vegetarians. And sound like them too.

I also don't believe the EV2035 deadline has a hope in hell of becoming reality. It's only 12 years away. They'll need to build an incredible amount of infrastructure including more power plants which doesn't happen overnight. Hell, they started building the Eglinton Crosstown LRT 12 year ago and it's not even finished yet.

I wonder at what point the government will kick the date down the road. Or will they change their mind an allow hybrids? I also wonder how much attention auto manufacturers are paying to the Canadian ban on ICE vehicles. If they suddenly change the date, will that give automakers time to gear up and produce more ICE vehicles? Like JTK said, they'll certainly be more popular "if" they charge in the same amount of time it take to fill a tank of gas and cost the same. I still don't understand how people who don't have a driveway and are limited to street parking. In my neighbourhood and there's many like it, most is street parking. People are rarely able to park anywhere near their home. Sometimes you have to park a block away on another street. I've never heard a reasonable solution for that problem. Not to mention if you live in an apartment of condo. Who's going to pay to install a charger in every spot. And what happens when you move?

Hilarious - because it is true! Trudeau government is using the EV2035 mandate to appease the vegetarians and tree huggers. I never thought about the logistics. It will be an infrastructure nightmare. The electrical grid can barely keep up with air conditioners. Just imagine if all cars were plugged in at night during a heat wave? It will fry the network. But we shouldn't be surprised. Since when does the government actually think through a flavor of the campaign idea??
