Asses in seats are kind of important on the USSC.
They are.
Why do you think the Federal Society exists?
Why did McConnell make up rules as he wanted when he had the power to block or rush through appointments?

It took FAR too long for the Democrats to understand that "seize the Court because it is a counter-majoritarian power center" was an active tactic of the Conservative movement.

Without some way to de-escalate, those days of judges getting wide bi-partisan support are long gone.

I'd like to think we won't get to the point of political assassination of supreme court justices, but I can't rule it out in the future.

Sure, but you're a libertarian, right?

"They have the power, so they are going to use it badly" should be expected behavior from the State for you.
But they are not the state. The judicial system should be bipartisan and seek to regulate the state by upholding the constitution and laws passed by the state.

At this point its just another statistic. And another indicator of the decline that is going to hit the West in the next 5-10 years. There is a very real societal breakdown happening, especially in the USA. A combination of wealth inequality, political polarization, distrust in politicial institutions, myopic selfishness, moral and ethical decay, increase in mental illness, social isolation( especially in young men), is going to cause civil unrest once the next recession/possible depression hits.

Who is in charge at the time will determine the longer term fate of the nation. And the West.

My best suggestion is make sure your portfolio is conservative, your savings are diversified, housing is secure, and your social circle are too.

We are not any better here in Canada, especially in the metropolitan areas. We're just a bit behind.

Dude we are better. Walmart is closing 258 stores due to looting. The homeless issues are far far worse. Shootings, overdoses and over violence are way up and under reported down there.

I believe most of what we are experiencing in Toronto is pandemic lockdown related. Three years of social isolation, lack of services access for mentally ill has caused this uptick along with no doubt some secret bussing("bear relocation" as cops call it) from smaller towns their problems. And many coming on their own. Add on 3 years of lack of social training and you see why some of the youth hitting puberty hard are more feral. But we have enough social services to get through much of it. More will be lost unfortunately but they are collateral damage from the pandemic.

The USA has a far larger systemic problem of blaming rather than solving. And its exasperating the downward spiral.

The major crime factors in the US is the abundance of street drugs, guns and the flawed perception that fear of punishment will deter crime rather than rehabilitation.

The major factor is bad labor laws, bad social services, bad employer policies, bad healthcare access(#1 reason for bankruptcies), bad banking laws, bad(corrupt) govt at all levels and BOTH PARTIES. All these contrubute to a me first, fuck them attitude that RESULTS in your post.

Street crime is a symptom of poverty. White Collar crime is a cause of it.

We knew that was coming.
Like I said, this is going to be used as an attack on trans folk to "protect the good innocent Christians" for years, maybe decades.
Well in this case they will probably be right. It suits their narrative

The left have been in the business of dominating US court appointments since at least the 1960s. They realized that the courts offered opportunities for legal reforms that they were never going to achieve legislatively. Their efforts stopped short of SCOTUS only because of the Senate approval process. Because the Presidency and the Senate are often in the hands of opposite parties, SCOTUS is the MOST politically BALANCED court in the US.

There is no solution to the problem that the courts are influenced by politics BECAUSE LAW IS POLITICS! It always was. It always will be. The original courts merely presided in place of the King or the local nobles. They were never intended to be independent of politics. They were only intended as a dispute resolution mechanism that might result in less bloodshed (which even monarchs realized was disruptive to the economy, at least if it were to be widespread). Don't ask a system to do any more than it was designed to do.
