what the hell is that suppose to mean ?

you do not like mayonnaise?

no wonder you have such a difficult time with logic

there was 600 points of merit in a job offer
now there is 50 points
it is a statistical certainty that altering this criteria will reduce the number of placements into in demand positions
which is the primary objective of our immigration system

reducing the value of a job offer from 600 to 50 points is watered down criteria
only a fool or a uncompromising partisan ideologue (a fool by any other name) would argue it is not watered down criteria

Immigrants rent their accommodation. What shelter system are you even talking about? Are you conflating asylum seekers with immigrants who come via express entry?
Come now, the shelters in TO are full of the migrants- John Tory even acknowledged as much. I see no reason why we couldn't have migration aimed at the specific sectors, but when we're forced to keep migrants in homeless shelters or hotels(like the Ukrainians at the moment), the system is not working and the migration policies are hurting Canadians who need help.

Those are asylum seekers. They make up a minority of the immigrant population. For those people we have to spend and adjust because those are humanitarian causes. But I agree improvements need to be made so we can house them faster and better.

In this thread we are talking about express entry which admits the most. Express entry immigrants cannot come into Canada without having a minimum amount in their bank accounts. It is $13,310 for a single person. Most of them have twice or 3 times as much when the come here and they rent condos downtown or in the suburbs. A couple of my colleagues who came via that actually bought a house a year after they came here, so they are actually doing quite well.

I have no problem whatsoever with bringing in people who can pull their own weight, I was one of them. But, I have a huge problem with every one else.

Yeah refugees cannot pull their own weight when they first come in. They have to work their way up, jump through hoops and struggle and need help along the way. But it is our humanitarian obligation to help them.

There is a case to be made sure. But I dont think 75,000 refugees are costing us that much. Also they pay back more in taxes than they receive in benefits.

OK, fine. Let's agree that the refugees and those unwilling to work will be the responsibility of the federal government and NOT of the municipalities or the provinces and will not be competing with the Canadians for welfare services.

Why? Their taxes go to the municipalities and provinces. So why shouldn't they be the responsibility of provinces or municipalities? Those responsibilities are shared anyway.

What taxes people who use the shelters pay?

They do over a period of time when they are able to secure jobs, when they buy food, groceries etc.,

Fine, settle them in Ottawa or put a line in the federal budget that explicitly underwrites their stay in the municipal facilities. We have a very serious problem in TO without Justin dumping his virtue signalling in our laps.

Problem with what? Housing? It is for the provincial govt to negotiate that with the feds.

Oh..you are so selfish, you don't want anyone else to work the fields, meat factories, menial jobs in offices and hospitals etc. They can pull their own weight.

80% of the Ontario budget is for health care and education. Illegal immigrants (and their children) get those services immediately despite no previous contributions to the tax base. That's a lot of weight to pull and it would take quite a while to balance their future tax contributions against the value of those services. And that's without even getting into Federal services, established infrasture, etc., etc! For Canada, immigration is necessary to an extent, and in certain select occupations. Random immigration is extremely expensive.

There is no such thing as random immigration. And illegal immigrants are a very small minority compared to legal immigrants (including refugees).

Any immigration that Canadians don't control is random. Illegal immigration is always random. So is refugee immigration.

Canadians who find themselves homeless and/or in physical or medical jeopardy due to mental health issues are a small minority of Canadians. My bet is that what we waste on inefficient immigration could fully fund housing and health care for this group.

Illegal immigration is, yes. But we control refugee immigration through the asylum process, so that is not random.
