(New York Jewish Week) — New York University is investigating a graduate student working at the school library who wrote “Free Palestine” and a profanity on an Israeli mail bag left in the trash.

The university accused Naye Idriss in November 2022 of alleged antisemitism and vandalism, according to her attorney. Idriss was informed that she was being investigated for allegedly violating the non-discrimination policy in the student conduct code.

Dylan Saba, who is representing the student through Palestine Legal, a civil rights group, also said that the university sent an email to library staff saying that there was “an anti-Israel incident.” Another email stated that there was “an alleged antisemitism incident.”

In December, Idriss, who was one of three Arabic language students working at the library, was not rehired with her peers.

An NYU student wrote ‘F–k Israel’ on a piece of trash. Is that antisemitism or freedom of speech? - Jewish Telegraphic Agency (jta.org)

Overview
Naye Idriss [Naay Idriss] has celebrated the death of Israelis, spread anti-Semitism, idolized terrorists and promoted hatred of Israelis and Zionists. Idriss has also spread hatred of Israel and America.

Idriss has celebrated [00:31:32] terrorism, called [00:33:18] for Israel’s destruction and promoted [00:08:54] incitement as a speaker or a lead marcher at Within Our Lifetime (WOL) rallies in New York City in 2021 and 2022. At a 2022 WOL event, she represented [00:31:10] the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) as one of its activists.

In January 2023, New York University (NYU) did not rehire Idriss as an Arabic translator after she vandalized an Israeli mail service bag while at work. NYU opened an investigation on Idriss for multiple issues, including defacing school property.

Idriss is the daughter of Samah Idriss, the founder of the Campaign to Boycott Supporters of Israel-Lebanon (CBSI), a campaign pre-dating the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. CBSI targeted Israeli companies in Lebanon and Arab countries. Idriss has tweeted about her father’s close friendship with terrorist leaders.

In 2017, 2019 and 2020, Idriss was an activist or organizer with the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter at Columbia University (Columbia SJP). During those same years, she was an activist with Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), a BDS movement coalition co-led by Columbia SJP.

As of January 2023, Idriss’s Facebook said she had been a Teaching Assistant (TA) at Columbia since January 16, 2019.

Also as of January 2023, Idriss was listed on an NYU website with other “continuing students 2021-2023” as pursuing a master’s degree at NYU’s Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies (Kevorkian Center). In August 2021, she wrote that in the fall she would start her master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies at the Kevorkian Center.

In 2020, Idriss graduated from Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature and Anthropology.

As of January 2023, Idriss’s Facebook said she was located in Manhattan, New York.

As of the same date, Idriss went by the username “ناي سماح إدريس [Naye Samah Idriss]” on Twitter.

Celebrating the Death of Israelis

The tweet translated said: “A picture of the martyr Diaa Hamarsheh... He carried out an operation in ‘Tel Aviv’ in occupied Palestine 48 [Israel] today, which led to the killing of 5 settlers. All support and glory for any action that creates an atmosphere of fear and insecurity for the settlers. They will know neither security nor peace on stolen land! ].”

In March 2022, Diaa Hamarsheh, who was in Israel illegally, opened fire on civilians and killed five people in Bnei Brak, Israel. Among the dead was the Israeli Arab police officer who killed Hamarsheh, two Orthodox Jewish fathers and two foreign Ukrainian workers.

On March 26, 2020, Idriss tweeted a screenshot of a tweet celebrating the first coronavirus death in Israel. The screenshot included news of the death and the screenshot said: “anyway should i paint my nails red or green today.”

Idriss wrote in her tweet: “the person who originally tweeted this was bullied by liberal zios to remove it so imma tweet it out for her again .”

The term "Zio" is a commonly used derogatory reference to Zionists and an often-used anti-Semitic slur.
Spreading Anti-Semitism
On October 10, 2020, Idriss tweeted: “still thinking abt that time soft libs tried to scold me for using ‘zio’ because ‘it’s a slur’.,,.,.....Bi**h....it’s supposed to be ”

On February 19, 2021, Idriss tweeted: “favorite video on the internet now, Palestinians in alquds [Jerusalem] throwing snowballs at the zio settlers .”

Idriss included a video showing Palestinians throwing snowballs at a group of Orthodox Chassidic Jews while mocking them, near one of the gates to Jerusalem’s Old City.
Idolizing Terrorists (PFLP)
On July 9, 2022, Idriss shared on Facebook an article written by her father about Ghassan Kanafani and added: “في ذكرى يوم استشهاد الكاتب والمناضل الثوري غسان كنفاني الذي يصادف اليوم، اعيد نشر مقال كتبه بابا في ٢٠١٧ عن تجديد فكر كنفاني [In memory of the martyrdom day of the writer and revolutionary fighter Ghassan Kanafani, which happens today, an article written by dad in 1963 about renewing Kanafani's thought ].”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.
Also on July 9, 2022, Idriss wrote on Facebook referring to Kanafani as “the great.”

On March 7, 2022, Idriss tweeted: “‘وهل هناك أبلغ وأفصح من فعل الشهيد…’
باسل الأعرج [‘Is there anything more illuminating and eloquent than becoming a martyr?’ Basil Al Araj].”

Basel Al Araj was killed in a shoot-out with Israeli troops during an arrest raid. He had been suspected of belonging to a terror cell planning to carry out attacks on Israeli targets. Two M-16 assault rifles and an improvised Carlo-style submachine gun were found inside his home.

On the same day, Idriss tweeted a quote attributed to her father praising Al Araj.

[Culture does not take its farthest and most ingrained reach in people's consciousness if it does not actually engage with the occupation: with saws, stones, rifles, shells, and rockets. Otherwise, culture remains a path to self-elevation and hollow prestige.’ Samah Idris about what we can learn from the martyr Basil Al-Araj].”

On February 22, 2022, Idriss tweeted: “What dad Samah Idriss wrote 3 years ago, shortly after the death of his best friend, the activist and amazing human being Maher Al-Yamani. Maher was the right hand of George Habash and one of the hijackers in 1968 (in Greece)... and the first to carry me after I was born. I hope to share this wonderful man with those who do not know him, as dad wished ... ”

George Habash, who has been called“the godfather of Middle East terrorism,” founded the terrorist organization the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). In 1970, Habash was the mastermind behind the hijackings of four Western airliners. In 1972, the PFLP collaborated with Japanese Red Army terrorists to massacre 24 people at Israel's Lod International Airport (renamed Ben Gurion International Airport).
On January 31, 2022, Idriss shared on Facebook a post from her father that aimed to “honor” the memory of the “wise George Habash.”

On March 31, 2020, Idriss tweeted about Leila Khaled: “Hahahah my hijacker queen .”

Leila Khaled is a leading member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and participated in the hijacking of TWA Flight 840 in 1969 and El Al Flight 219 in 1970. As of 2017, Khaled was a member of PFLP's Political Bureau. Khaled has said that the second intifada failed because it was not violent enough, advocated [00:36:07] for the use of children in terror activities and compared Zionists to Nazis.
On May 13, 2017, Idriss participated in a “Saltwater Challenge” with other CUAD activists.

The “Saltwater Challenge” was held in solidarity with hunger-striking Palestinian prison inmates convicted of terrorism. The strike was initiated by Marwan Barghouti, who was serving five consecutive life sentences for his role in suicide bombings that killed five Israelis during the “Second Intifada.” Aarab Barghouti, the son of Marwan Barghouti, launched the “Saltwater Challenge.”

Naye Idriss - Canary Mission
First, Canary Mission is Israeli propaganda, they attack students to try to shut down debate.
Second, writing 'Free Palestine' is not antisemitic, basketcase believes in the two state solution which is impossible without a 'free Palestine'.
Third, this was written on trash?

This is the biggest scandal you can find?
Wow.

In the last week:
Six Palestinians were killed, including 4 civilians: two of them were children, by the Israeli Occupation Forces’ (IOF) fire. Among those killed, one was shot dead by an Israeli settler and a Palestinian civilian succumbed to his pervious injury. Also, a Palestinian detainee died in the Israeli prisons due to the medical negligence policy. Moreover, 35 Palestinians, including a journalist, were injured by IOF fire, while dozens of others suffocated in IOF attacks in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.

And you wrote about someone writing graffiti on garbage?
Wow.

No, they are not terrorists, canadaman.
You can't just say everyone who is critical of Israel or reports on human rights is a terrorist.
It just makes you look ridiculous.

PCHR’s Organizational Ties to the PFLP
According to information posted on the PFLP website, on June 27, 2015, the PFLP’s prisoner committee participated in a workshop organized by PCHR. The event was held “in solidarity” with Khader Adnan, a member and “leader” of the terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad, during his two-month long hunger strike. During the event, PFLP prisoner committee member Hani Mezher called on PCHR to “exert a double effort to make urgent contacts with all institutions and raise the issue of prisoners with the international community and the free world so we can save his life.”

PCHR Staff with Ties to the PFLP
Raji Sourani: General Director3
  • In 2013, the Swedish Right Livelihood Award Foundation awarded Souranithe Right Livelihood Award, commonly known as the Alternative Nobel Prize.”
    • According to the PFLP’s website, the terrorist organization sent “leader” and PFLP Central Committee member Rabah Muhanna to PCHR’s offices to congratulate Sourani. PCHR Chairman Riyad Al-Zaanoun “thanked the Popular Front for the visit, stressing the important national role it took upon itself in the field of adherence to Palestinian national rights and principles.”
    • On February 16, 2014, the PFLP held a ceremony honoring Sourani for receiving the award. Several members of the PFLP’s Gaza Central Committee4 attended, including its chief, Jamil Mizher.5
      • During the ceremony Sourani stated that “I was in the ranks of the Popular Front, and there were comrades who taught us with their own hands. This organization has given us much more. We hope that the direction and the sense of belonging that were planted inside us will remain in our minds. We don’t apologize and don’t regret our past, we are proud that once we were members of this organization and we fought in its ranks” (emphasis added).

Amnesty International has culture of white privilege, report finds

anti jewish terror apologists are not only anti-semitic they are also anti-black

Amnesty International has a culture of white privilege with incidents of overt racism including senior staff using the N-word and micro-aggressive behaviour such as the touching of black colleagues’ hair, according to an internal review into its secretariat.

It came as eight current and former employees of Amnesty International UK (AIUK) described their own experiences of racial discrimination and issued a statement calling on senior figures to stand down.

One of the whistleblowers, Katherine Odukoya, said: “We joined Amnesty hoping to campaign against human rights abuses but were instead let down through realising that the organisation actually helped perpetuate them.”

Representatives of both arms of the UK-based human rights organisation apologised and pledged to make changes, with the director of AIUK citing “the uncomfortable fact that we have not been good enough”.

The internal review at Amnesty’s international secretariat, commissioned following the Black Lives Matter movement, recorded multiple examples of workers reporting alleged racism including:

Senior staff using the N-word and P-word, with colleagues labelled over-sensitive if they complained.

Systemic bias including the capability of black staff being questioned consistently and without justification, and minority ethnic staff feeling disempowered and sidelined on projects.

A lack of awareness or sensitivity to religious practices resulting in problematic comments and behaviour.

Aggressive and dismissive behaviour, particularly over email and often directed towards staff in offices in the global south.

In June last year the international board of Amnesty International sent an email to staff addressing the Black Lives Matter movement and racism. Citing the killing of George Floyd, it said racism was encoded into the “very organisational model” of the human rights body, which had been shaped by the “colonial power dynamics and borders” that were “fresh” at the time of its founding in 1961.

It continued: “Despite some notable and hard-won changes in recent years, control and influence over our resources, decision-making … has remained overwhelmingly in the hands of … people from the white majority Global North.”

It said there had been bias and insensitivity in the way some people were treated at the international secretariat – the arm of the organisation which sets policy and hires researchers from hubs across the world, with headquarters in London.

The board went on to inform staff that an independent review would take place. Over the next few months, workplace experts from the consultancy Howlett Brown conducted a “temperature check”. They were given access to staff surveys and carried out six focus groups made up of 51 staff including two exclusively attended by black staff.

Published in October 2020 but not press released, the 46-page internal report by Howlett Brown, focused on Amnesty’s international secretariat, summarised: “Remarks (in the focus groups) were consistently shared that the external face of Amnesty (International Secretariat) is very different to its internal face.” The experts recommended that to resolve issues there would need to be a recognition of the “systemic privileges that exist”.

A statement released alongside the report by the Amnesty International coalition leadership team said it was “sobered” by the findings, adding: “It is a timely reminder that discrimination, racism and anti-Black racism exist in our organisation. It has highlighted both the extent and systematic nature of racism and indicates we must address white privilege wherever it exists.”

Separately, staff at AIUK, which is also based in London but has a separate employment structure from the international secretariat, made claims of racial discrimination, telling the Guardian there were similarities between their experiences and the culture at the international secretariat.

They described feeling “dehumanised” over their race and ethnicity over a number of years, with some reporting official grievances.

In a joint statement, two current and six former employees of AIUK called for the director, senior management team and board to resign, claiming the leadership “knowingly upheld racism and actively harmed staff from ethnic minority backgrounds”.

Odukoya, who worked within the campaigns and community organising teams at AIUK, said that as a black woman she was constantly mentally exhausted navigating an environment that was “hostile to blackness”. “There’s a hegemonic white middle-class culture that seemed to be protected and reproduced. White privilege was pervasive,” she said.

Odukoya described colleagues at AIUK commenting on her hair and requesting to touch it, making negative references to her “urban” accent and referring to her as the “black girl”.

In 2019 she raised a grievance concerning racial and gender discrimination, alleging that she had been manipulated into working above her pay grade without the correct remuneration. AIUK did not uphold the claim but reached a settlement with Odukoya in May last year.

Pretty much every organization, business, group or collective has been going through this routine for the last couple of years. I expect you can find one or two people at any place that are a problem, say the way you are a problem with supporting apartheid and anti-Palestinian racism. But that doesn't mean that Amnesty's work is invalidated anymore than it means that all black Canadians support apartheid. As we well know, BLM is now aligning with PLM and other rights organizations.

I expect you to now pull a Lance and do your usual bs copy and paste routine. You really can't actually discuss the issues.

They are not terrorists and not linked to terrorists.

Do me a favour, define what you think the word 'terrorist' means. I'll even start, terrorism = the deliberate targeting of civilians and non-combatants for political ends.
Israel's government now includes members who are part of a party Canada labels as terrorists, have you called them out?

Would you ever call out Israel when they target civilians?
I'll start with one of the clearest and most horrid example of terrorism in the last decade.
The March of Return, where Israeli snipers shot women, children, medics, disabled and civilians every Friday for a year. They used dumdums, exploding bullets, and deliberately crippled thousands.
That is terrorism or state terrorism, the targeting of civilians for political purposes.
Even basketcase says that settler attacks are terrorism, have you ever called out one of those?
Instead you are now calling Amnesty and Defence for Children International 'terrorists'.

Caught Lying: BDS Group ‘Apologizes’ for Labeling Holocaust Photo as Massacre of Palestinians

MK Amichai Chikli (Likud) shared on Twitter a photo of dead corpses at a Nazi concentration camp posted by the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), which claimed to depict an Israeli massacre of Palestinians.

“The racist BDS Movement breaks a Guiness record, uses a picture from the German concentration camp of Nordhausen to lie about a fictional massacre during Israel’s War of Independence. Holocaust distortion, appropriation and denial, further victimizing Jewish people. Pure evil,” Chikli tweeted.

“Rows of bodies of dead inmates fill the yard of Lager Nordhausen, a Gestapo concentration camp. This photo shows less than half of the bodies of the several hundred inmates who died of starvation or were shot by Gestapo men,” Chikli added.

Al Jazeera is now on your list as well?
Wow.

The reports on the March of Return are everywhere, Al J's reporting is fair and balanced, for instance here is MSF.

Are you going to call them terrorists as well?
If this is all about 'terrorism', why do you refuse to call out what are clearly acts of terrorism by settlers and the state in Israel?
Is it about terrorism or is it about anti-Palestinian racism?

From Weekly Protest to Ongoing Terror
The Friday marches have continued with smaller and smaller numbers of participants in the summer, but the protests have morphed into ongoing terror attacks in which Israel is bombarded throughout the week by rockets, mortars and incendiary devices.

Since the beginning of the protests on March 30, 2018, 417 rockets and mortars fired at Israel, nearly 200 of them were launched over the weekend of July 13-14. Most rockets were intercepted by Iron Dome or fell in empty areas. Two of the rockets, however, hit a home and a synagogue in Sderot, wounding four Israelis including two teenage girls. Israel responded with multiple air strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza.

The IDF subsequently told residents in Gaza border communities to remain within a 15-second radius from bomb shelters or safe rooms, closed the nearby beach and restricted gatherings of more than 100 people in open spaces, and more than 500 people in closed spaces across the border communities.

The Palestinians have now adopted a “scorched earth” policy and are using more sophisticated timers to delay combustion of incendiary kites and balloons to increase their range. Michael Cotler-Wunsh noted this strategy is banned under Article 54 of Protocol I of the 1977 Geneva Conventions. The relevant passage states: “It is prohibited to attack, destroy, remove, or render useless objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population, such as foodstuffs, agricultural areas for the production of foodstuffs, crops, livestock, drinking water installations and supplies, and irrigation works, for the specific purpose of denying them for their sustenance value to the civilian population or to the adverse Party, whatever the motive, whether in order to starve out civilians, to cause them to move away, or for any other motive.”

On July 16, 2018, Israel announced it was tightening restrictions imposed on July 9 by cutting off fuel and gas supplies to the Gaza Strip after a ceasefire agreement was violated earlier that day when a rocket was fired into southern Israel. Medicines and food will still be allowed to pass through the Kerem Shalom crossing. The government also decided to further narrow the fishing zone in the Gaza Strip from a range of six nautical miles to three nautical miles.

Meanwhile, Egypt warned Hamas to stop launching incendiary balloons and kites into Israel and announced it was temporarily closing the Rafah crossing, the only other outlet for Gaza, due to a technical malfunction. It was unclear if Egypt was coordinating the closure with Israel’s announcement to pressure Hamas to resume a ceasefire.

On July 24, 2018, Israel announced it would partially reopen the Kerem Shalom border crossing with Gaza. It would return to full activity, the Defense Ministry said when Hamas stopped all airborne firebombs from being launched and all other provocations on the border.

A large protest of approximately 7,000 Palestinians occurred on July 28, 2018, during which rocks and explosive devices, including pipe bombs, a Molotov cocktail and a grenade were thrown at Israeli troops. Three Palestinians were killed, including a 12-year-old boy. During that day and the weekend, incendiary devices caused more than 20 fires in Israel. In addition, the Israeli Navy intercepted a ship after it disobeyed commands to stop sailing toward the Gaza Strip.

Following Egyptian mediation for a cease fire at the end of July 2018, Israel agreed to resume shipments of gas and fuel to the Strip. When attacks from Gaza continued, however, the decision was reversed, limiting the flow of supplies to food and medicine. After calm was restored, Israel reopened the Kerem Shalom Crossing into Gaza and extended the Strip’s permitted fishing zone on August 15, 2018.

In early September 2018, Israel was forced to close the Erez crossing, the only pedestrian entry into Israel from Gaza, after rioting Palestinians damaged infrastructure. That closure is expected to remain in effect until repairs are completed. Meanwhile, Palestinians needing to enter Israel may be admitted for humanitarian reasons on a case by case basis.

On September 4, 2018, Sinwar admitted protests staged on the Gaza border were intended to avert an internal crisis and divert pressure onto the Israelis. “After the reconciliation efforts [between Hamas and Fatah] reached an impasse, a number of factions planned to cause an internal explosion in the Gaza Strip, but the Marches of Return thwarted the plan,” Sinwar said. He also claimed, “Palestinian officials collaborated with Israeli intelligence in order to sabotage the reconciliation efforts.”

After weeks of smaller demonstrations, a larger protest of about 7,000 Palestinians marched on September 7, 2018. They once again threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at soldiers, who responded with tear gas and other non-lethal means. Troops fired at Palestinians who attempted to breach the border fence and enter Israel. After a few weeks’ respite, incendiary balloons were again flown across the border, setting two fires. Troops also later found an improvised explosive device that had been placed at the base of the fence. The following day, a group of Palestinians carrying a knife and an ax were arrested while trying to breach the security fence along the border in northern Gaza.

In late September and early October 2018, the protests began to grow larger and more violent again as efforts to reach a long-term ceasefire agreement stalled. On October 12, 2018, for example, an estimated 15,000 Palestinians joined protests. Protesters threw explosive devices, hand grenades and firebombs, burned tires and threw stones at IDF soldiers. Seven Palestinians were reportedly killed as troops responded to the riots. The escalation came shortly after Israel had agreed to increase fuel deliveries to Gaza paid for by Qatar to ease the shortages there. In response to the violence, Israel suspended the shipments.

Even before Israel acted, the Palestinian Authority threatened to boycott the Israeli gas company that provides diesel fuel to the West Bank and Gaza. The PA also warned UN employees in Gaza they would pay a “heavy price” if they helped transfer the fuel.

These threats, as well as the failure of ceasefire negotiations, were a result of interference from Mahmoud Abbas. He objected to being left out of the talks and hoped the punitive measures he employed would win concessions from Hamas that would enable him to resume control over Gaza. Hamas, however, was unwilling to meet his demands. Moreover, sanctions imposed on Gaza aimed at convincing the people there to rise up against Hamas appeared to backfire as Abbas was blamed more for their deprivations.

Hamas also began a dangerous escalation of violence that threatened to start a full-fledged war. Analyst Yoni Ben Menachem noted that Hamas has formed “night confusion units” to turn the protests “into 24/7 events to get the IDF soldiers accustomed to the ongoing presence of Palestinian activists at the fence, including at night.” Hamas hopes to either break through the fence or tunnel under it (Israel discovered and destroyed one tunnel on October 11, 2018). He said the goal is to surprise the IDF and infiltrate Israeli territory to abduct soldiers to trade for imprisoned terrorists. Meanwhile, the demonstrations keep the Palestinian issue in the international press and, Hamas believes, discourages Israelis from settling in the Negev.

Following another upsurge in violence, negotiations resumed for a ceasefire at the end of October 2018. As confidence-building measures, Israel allowed Qatari fuel to enter Gaza, enabling households to receive eight hours of electricity a day instead of four. Gaza’s fishing zone was also increased to 6-9 miles. For its part, Hamas stopped providing free transportation to the weekend riots and reduced the number of incendiary balloons flown from Gaza into Israel. Divisions remain, however, within Hamas as the political wing wants Hamas to accept Egypt’s proposals for a deal with Israel, but the armed wing favors continued armed struggle and the continuation of violent border riots.

Caught Lying: BDS Group ‘Apologizes’ for Labeling Holocaust Photo as Massacre of Palestinians
They apologized and pulled the tweet. Good on them, it was offensive and never should have been posted.
What I note is that you are offended by this image yet not offended or even discussing the Tantura Massacre.
Why is this tweet offensive to you but not a massacre of civilians?

This was also not BDS, it was another group. This is BDS's post.

You should also watch the film and tell us if the tweet is more offensive than the massacre.

You won't accept any source unless its from the Israeli government.
You won't even accept the Jewish run, Israeli group B'tselem and their work.
You won't accept MSF, HRW, Amnesty, the UN, ICC or anything unless it comes from the Israeli government.
Why?
