I wonder about these internal corporate/municipal code of conduct rules. Have they ever been tested in a court of competent jurisdiction? Do some or all these rules violate the Charter?

Question: Since Tory "voluntarily: resigned, does he get severance?

There's more going on here.

There's no way he resigns over simply having an affair. Even with a woman who is 37 years his junior. I thought Tory was made of sterner stuff.

I don't what else is going on, maybe he's going to be a daddy again, or maybe he wants to marry this young woman. I dunno. I just can't believe that this is all it took.
Why now?

What, but more importantly WHO was behind this sudden prompting of this whole debacle?

Who stands to gain and/or cloak his own shenanigans by forcing Tory to resign?

Is the same political figure behind the revelation that forced Patrick Brown to destruct during the Provincial PC leadership race, the same puppet master in the Tory affair?

A vicious heart and mind are character traits of one man currently in power.

Tory has been the head of Rogers, the CFL commissioner, leader of the Progressive Conservatives and the Mayor of Toronto. He knew what he was doing was wrong before it even started. If it turns out that he played a part in getting her a position at MLSE, this will get even messier.

All I have to say 'Klatuu', is Barada Nikto.

Oh, I'm sure he was 'arms length' in her securing employment with MLSE. Yeah right.

It appears the top two contenders to replace Mayor Tory are Mike Layton and Joe Cressy. Two hardcore lefties. If they win, Toronto will be a "sanctuary" city in the mode of L.A., San Francisco, Seattle, etc.
It is a sanctuary city. Tory is just getting out ahead of the coming conflagration he has allowed. Big ethnic minority crime, out of control drug use, huge homelessness, record breaking food bank visits, abundant unchecked mental illness involving violent crime. Throw in the catch and release legal system that allows criminals to go free because their skin color or native status is over- represented in crime stats. I recently heard a 33 yr. retired cop mention that so many armed robberies don`t make the news daily, unless they are a big one. Toronto and most of the GTHA has become just another big American shithole city. Might as well get used to it, there`s no turning this ship around. And the worst is yet to come.

Yes, I think Toronto, unfortunately, is heading in the direction of L.A., etc.

Years ago, when I used to frequent NYC I would think to myself "thank goodness" Toronto doesn't have people sleeping on the street.

BTW: I just heard that a third teenage girl has been charged in the murder of that homeless dude. This is surprising since she is a member of at least 3 "protected groups" i.e. youth, gender, ethnicity (assumed for now).

You ever visited London, UK or NYC, SF or Chicago?

Compared to any other large city, Toronto is a paradise.

That's the same idea that crossed my mind. That someone has REAL dirt on Tory - corruption, bribery, influence-peddling - and the affaire is just window-dressing to deflect far more serious allegations.

I personally suspect that almost every politician in Ontario is in the pocket of the big developers and that also comes to mind.

I watch KTLA news daily, have done so for many years. Maybe even felt a little safe and smug that Toronto the good would never become like LA. TO now runs heads up on any given day with the shit seen in LA. There are probably many guys here on TERB that remember the "holy shit"!! feeling when somebody got shot in Toronto, late `60`s -`70`s era. Now the violence is one big blur, can`t even keep it straight. The van attack or multiple condo murder are way back in the rearview mirror.

Correctamundo! Page one of any politicians playbook. Their pay, pensions and greasing their rich, fat friends is all that matters. There is no page two.

Ford has first right to the bribes. There will be only crumbs left for the mayor.

Ford’s net worth in 2023 is believed to be around $50 million. What is surprising is the fact that it jumped more than 15 times from his $3 million recorded net worth in 2019.
