50% of all marriages don't end in divorce. That statistic is simply the result of bad and lazy mathematics that assumes that if 100 couples get married in one year and 50 couples get divorced, then 50% of marriages end in divorce. Except that you have far more people married than the 100 couples - you have to take into consideration everyone who ever got married in any year prior to the current year.
