Covid raging in China. Canada needs to test all arrivals from China immediately

Clearly they can't make reliable tests and have inefficient vaccines.
I find it completely ridiculous that China doesn't have to adhere to any type of WHO standard and you are ok with opening travel with them. Especially when it has been fully revealed they completely failed at containing the virus.
No justification for this. Absolutely irresponsible.

Agreed that China doesn't have much transparency from the government, but I think it is an overreaction to ban regular people who dont have Covid and who dont show symptoms, from travelling. Canada officially accepts Chinese vaccine proofs (and did in the past). So not sure what your issue is with accepting vaccine proofs, presenting test results at boarding and testing them on arrival here in Canada.

Italy already confirmed half the Chinese passengers on 2 flights had covid.
Their system is unproven and they refuse to reveal what's happening. This should be an easy "No Go". If this was anything else it would be a rejected process.
Government not releasing information and saying that they dont have facilities for a basic PCR test and some vaccine is unrelated. China is one of the major countries in the world and they have significant scientific human capital to atleast come up with a vaccine and covid tests.You're trolling me right?

So what if 2 passengers had covid? If you test them and find that they have covid then isolate them. Otherwise they are good.

China could be using the best MRNA vaccine and they could have 100% vaccination rate but they would still be screwed because of their bipolar approach to everything, especially covid. It would not surprise me that in a week the CCP goes back to zero covid policy and the week after that they will go back to a cough-freely policy.

Minimum 2-week ban (should be 30 days) makes much more sense. Just delay travel.

Its not a waste of resources to get them to test before they board. We did it until April this past year on our dime. No reason to blanket ban anyone who is not sick.

Exactly. This is the same approach we took when India was peaking and it failed. Canada ultimately had to place a 30 day travel ban.

We need to get over this culture of panicking because of Covid, and take it in stride. Yes people will get sick, and then they recover. Just get your vaccine, and get a move on with your life instead of restrictions of any kind.
That's a LIE. You can clearly see the peak in April 2021 and the downward slop as the ban restriction was implemented.
If anything the ban was TOO LATE.
