Friend found a car in his mother's garage

A friend found a car in his mother's garage, she passed away 3 months ago.
The car is registered to a tenant of his mother's boyfriend at the time, but the house was in her name.
Boyfriend died 10 years ago and it seems that nobody has claimed the car since it's heavily dusted and what not and the garage itself is in rough shape, but the car is great.
Does anyone know what can be done to get the car over to his name? The car is a stunning white VW Corrado guessing it's a 1992, 93, done up so nice and 45,000km.
No keys to be found anywhere in the house or in the car.

The gasket, brakes, and hoses might be old and semi broken. So this could cost him big, if not he is lucky.
Didn't he ever enter the garage when mom was alive?

I wouldn't call cops or not even go to a dealership.

Tell him to go to MTO with Lawyer?
Those service centres might help.

Quick but stupid option is to forge the registration.

The legal way would probably be way longer and way more expensive, I'd assume needing a lawyer to get the car acknowledged as abandoned and therefore part of the mom's estate.

Could be a number of possibilities. Check the car for damages. Maybe involved in a hit and run.

Off hand, it does not seem to be a rare or valuable car. You might be putting more ( time and money ) into it than it is worth. All the gasgets and seals will have to be replaced all together or one at a time as needed.

A friend has a 1969 Trans-Am. He has a lot of problems trying to get parts. It is a classic or antique or something like that. Maybe he can sell it to Jay Leno?

Great ideas, we did assume the gaskets and what not would be dried up and worn.
Also who knows if any mice or squirrels nested in there, will find out in a few days, but it wasn't used in any crime. 😂😂
We'll see how it goes, going to help him with it either this weekend or next week.

It has a beautiful sporty aggressive look to it, very subtle though. I thought maybe aftermarket body work, not sure yet. Can't wait though, it would be sweet if it was a VR6.
I'll take it off his hands if he's willing to part with it.

Used Corrado's are fetching a few bucks on the auction markets. Very low mileage to boot.
Is the vehicle plated and if so when was the last sticker renewal? That would tell you how long its been sitting.
My advice would be for your friend to call the MTO and get some direction.

If that is the case wouldn't it be better to replace the gas tank?
All the gummy will travel through the gas line and clog the engine?

Yeah this will cost money for sure. I would only add 5 Litre of gasoline, change oil.

I think the police could look up the plates and VIN number to see if it is questionable but shit can happen.
