Hard not to have an ego at that age after being touted as the next one for years. Only he can prove everyone right or wrong.

When I heard is interviews with the press before the draft I thought to myself he's a little to self confident considering he's never played a pro game.

Something seemed off......So reading this doesn't surprise me.

As far as I'm concerned Shane Wright was the best player in this draft. I was surprised to see him drop to 4th selection. Is he another Eichel type? I guess time will tell.

Skill and talent yes, but attitude caused him to drop.
Better to have a forced attitude adjustment too early in your career rather than too late.
Sort of reminds me of a story I once heard on a hockey broadcast(sorry, don't remember the details). Apparently, a coach of an expansion team told his players at the start of the season that they were there because the other teams didn't want them. If true, that's quite a kick in the pants.

It certainly didn't help Jack Eichel. The Vegas Golden Knights are starting to pay for their early success. The Sabres won the deal to grant Eichel his wish, the VGK aren't left with much. Eichel will probably want out by the end of the season.

Eichel has been wallowing in hubris for too long, some humble pie will do him good. He may not be a dedicated meathead like Evander Kane.

That attitude cost him 3 draft slots and money. Better off to just lose the attitude entirely.

Remember what they were saying about a young Mario Lemieux…selfish, arrogant, conceited…I wouldn’t put much into this.

Mario had a lot more to be conceited about, it is a tough one trying to compare Wright's Jr career and Super Mario's. Mario's draft year he produced 3 times the points SW did in his draft year. Maybe he got sideways because he got drafted by Kingston, in which case we haven't seen the true SW yet. Kingston is not known for developing talent.
