Now working at Walmart is not safe. Seems the idea in America is if someone pisses you off just go to where they are and shoot you the place.

I don’t even know how to respond to these events in the US anymore. As always, my heart goes out to the victims and their families but it just seems that these problems are becoming more common and there is no will or ability amongst the US population to address it.

I just posted two this week. The LGTBQ+ night club and this one.

And I bet there were more. It that not ridiculous. 2 mass shootings that have killed 11 people in 5 days of each other.

Agreed mate - just sad - I can't even imagine the pain and suffer that will follow for those families of the victims. Imagine, just heading out to grab something - and not coming back - I have done this millions of times to grab something quickly - so sad.

In this case - the shooter was an employee who was kissed off and sot at other employees in a break room. Can you imagine? Working at Walmart comes with risk of mass shooting?!?!?!

7 mass shootings in the past 7 days, tracker says

Tuesday’s attack in Chesapeake, Va., brings the number of mass shootings in the United States in the past week alone to seven, figures from the Gun Violence Archive show.

According to the database — which classifies a mass shooting as an attack in which at least four people are injured or killed, not including the perpetrator — there have been seven mass shootings since Nov. 18, all but one of them involving fatalities. At least three dozen people were wounded in those attacks.

The figures include the five people killed in a shooting at an LGBTQ bar in Colorado Springs over the weekend.

There have been more than 600 mass shootings in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

They have to get to the real problem of WHY did the perp do this? Calls for some serious navel gazing, reflection and discussion. Guns are just a distraction from the issue and obviously not the problem. in all 600 cases this year so far....In each case they are sure to find that it was just a "one off".

The US has lost its way…

Freedom without responsibility. Never a good combination.

These murder-suicides always go in the wrong order...

But, all that being said, the fact that it is so easy to buy weapons in the US is mind boggling. I mean, don't get me wrong, a Glock could kill a lot of people fairly quickly, and this dude took out six. But an AR-15, the weapon of choice for mass shootings,....the damage those bullets do is immense. I read that when they were first doing tests on this rifle back in Vietnam, a enemy soldier got shot in the ass....but the damage from the round was so massive they bled to death. Previous wounds like this would have been survival. ER doctors talk about this as well, when the victims of these shootings come in, the level of trauma is so severe the odds of survival are slim. But handguns are different. 50 Cent famously got shot like 9 times and lived. He was hit with a handgun. If it were an assault rifle, he'd be deader than disco.

I honestly have a difficult time understanding the American gun fetish. Like, I understand hunting rifles. They are just as powerful as the AR, but limited capacity ammo and what not. Who needs a weapon of war in their home???

Gun is the tool these shooters used to fix their problem.

So while the US bring socialized healthcare and regulate the housing market let’s just ban guns.

Concretely do you see alternative solutions?

They used to call it "going postal" because it was associated with people at the post office shooting up their workplace.
Working anywhere comes with risk of mass shootings from coworkers.

It’s easy to understand the US gun fetish…. Certain people picture themselves as John Wayne types. They believe when shit gets real, they, and their AR-15 will fix things real quick.

It is just that type of delusion that is sold to the public in all forms of media… music… movies.

Fuck’m. I just enjoy the side show now. I lost sympathy after Sandy Hook. When half the country was alright with a grade school being shot up… then seriously, fuck’m.

That's sad but true....

The myth about the good guy with the gun is just that....a myth. It does happen once in a blue moon. But usually it's some unarmed hero that ends a mass shooting like what happened here.

I think a scenario where two people get into a shootout is terrifying. Because neither is trained. One is trying to kill or hurt everyone, the other is only trying to stop them. But with the chaos of the shooting, the rush of adrenaline and what not, the odds of some untrained person being able not make things worse is low. Even trained police officers will frequently miss a target like that....

And, there was a recent story (within the last three years) of some hero putting down a mass shooter...only to be shot and killed by police when they rolled upon the scene...

A truly sad event on the eve of a holiday weekend.

This is not just a problem in America. The whole world is getting more violent, even Canada. As the planet becomes more populated, so will the number of unstable people. In the USA it is guns, in England it is knives, and in other countries it is the local weapon of choice. Unfortunately, as a species, this is our nature.
