UK has lots of stabbings though. Especially in London

Agreed. England is a fucking scary crime ridden place now. Acid attacks and the long standing unbreakable tradition of breaking bottles or beer glasses and "glassing" people in the face, at the drop of a hat.

The worst year in London was 2019/2020. They had almost 16,000 stabbings.
That is 43 stabbings per day. Absolutely insane!!

"Scary" is different than "dangerous" though. I recall being scared of the Boogie Man under my bed, but my dad assured me that there was more of a danger of me getting hurt running away screaming than the actual monster.

Let's see....

11,000 "knife crimes" in London per year.

resulting in 140 homicides per year.

43 stabbings per day is terrible.

144 murders a year (See my post above) which adds up to 12 per month or 3 murders per week.

Now back to the stated reason these Osbornes are leaving.... mass shootings in the USA.

While 2022 is far from over, year to date there have been FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-ONE 471!!!! MASS SHOOTINGS IN THE USA!

506 people have been killed. 1,962 wounded.

All by firearms. All innocent victims of an armed gun man.

Do you guys not see the difference? Or are you just pining for the day to own your own gun so you can get in on the "self-defense" killing?

Not likely that your kid classrooms are going to be assaulted by a disgruntled knife wielding kid who kills roomfulls of kids.

I'm pretty sure the Osbournes are no longer in school.

BTW if you take away school shootings, inner city gang shootings.....etc... the US is actually a very safe place to live.
Especially if you live in affluent areas, which the Osbournes do

I was just naiively thinking that it was obvious that the likelihood of me being stabbed by some random madman with a hand-to-hand weapon that you have to kill one-by-one, face-to-face was mathematically and practically far less than getting mowed down by a sniper with automatic weapons and thousands of rounds of centerfire ammunition at a Las Vegas concert or my kid's school, or my friends church.

Well, considering they are obviously more successful and intelligent than you or I, and they are more capable of making their own life decisions than you or I on a hooker forum, I'll go with their judgement on their decision.

Obviously nobody actually read the article, nor watched the interview the article sensationalized. Mass shootings were just one reason.

And yes, I do know, first hand, how safe, and relatively safe it is to live in, do business and visit, the USA. Some parts are better than others, some more, some less. When I had residence there, I had a concealed weapon permit from two states and carried or otherwise had a small sidearm in reach from time to time. But I hated it, and am so happy we live in Canada, a country where we don't need to arm ourselves.

But if you also take the "inner city shootings" out of London's crime statistics, the drug and gang related crimes, the knife crimes and murder rate are cut almost by 2/3's!

Interestingly, there are no statistics posted about "school shootings". Does that tell you anything?

Of course. And murder rate for London is very low for such a huge city.
But my point was its still not fun being stabbed, and some people have life-altering injuries after they get stabbed.
Case in point:

Fair points, but I think at the end of the day I would still choose Beverly Hills over London UK.

Just my $0.02

Just speaking from my experience living there as a young man, there was much more of a culture of violence in the UK. Violence at the drop of a hat. Going to the pub or a local dance it was pretty much guaranteed there would be a fist fight. In pubs it was commonplace in the event of a fight for someone to break a beer glass and start stabbing with it.
When I came back to Canada, still as a young man, I just didn't get that vibe everywhere I went. You didn't have to be always on your guard in fight or flight mode.
That being said. What with the stats available. I'd still rather take my chances in the UK over the US.
Less of this going on.....

Thats all over Europe. I'm a Euro transplant myself and bar fights happen there 100X more than they do in North--America. I think its because the police there rarely prosecute assaults unless the victim has practically been beaten into a coma. Here in NA its totally different, lay one finger on someone and you're off to jail

I agree with you completely my friend!

Risk of being stabbed or shot does not figure into my decision.

For nothing else, the weather!

Definitely far more macho and violent. Add a culture of "men only" hard drinking 7 days a week at the pub that doesn't exist in North America. Add in the taste for group violence between football supporters and other cliques and Britain's a nasty, edgy place.

Population London = 9 million
Population USA = 330 million.
330 / 9 = 6'ish
London deaths = 140
USA deaths = 506 round it up to 700 to finish the year.
London deaths multiplied by 6 = 840 vs. 700
London wounded = 16,000
USA wounded = 1,962 round it up to 2,500 for the full year
London wounded multiplied by 6 = 96,000 vs. 2,500

Looks like there is a serious knife problem across the pond.

I wonder how many mass shootings there would be in London if they had the same gun culture as the USA?

They could reduce the number of knife related crimes by introducing guns...

I am left with the impression that London seems to be more violent than the USA.
