In other words, your treatment by the law depends on your status in society. The legal system is fundamentally corrupt.

Lawyers should be ashamed of themselves.
It has nothing to do with corruption. This is no different than any other job or profession. There are better doctors and treatments available for people with money, accountants, shoemakers and bottle washers. The better you are the more you can charge and the more one charges the fewer the people that can afford.

I use the word corrupt in a broader sense than you. The system is corrupt when there is not equality for the law.

What is it they say: you ask a stupid question, them you get a stupid answer.
I am not sure you have the capacity of qualifying anything as stupid. Like I wouldn’t trust your opinion on such issues and if anything I’d bet on the opposite being true.

Point in case: a lawyer just confirmed that their profession is just like any other. Which is exactly what I said. Is everybody stupid but you? Because you raised a non issue that no society even tried to address? Because how do you encourage weak lawyering and discourage strong lawyering? Dude you are way way out to lunch

There is equality before the law for all but regrettably access to it and the way in which it is accessed is not always equal. A small distinction perhaps but important.

You and I can agree. It is important to you, but it is not important to the people who get poorer results from the law.

I agree but the distinction is true nonetheless.
Poor people often have access to legal aid and have free lawyers run long jury trials which are again super expensive for the system and which a litigant who pays his lawyer out of pocket would not be able to finance.
Once again, poor people get shittier goods and services everywhere except maybe OHIP. Maybe when it comes to criticizing justice system they should shut the fuck up? Just saying

You should listen to yourself: "Poor people should shut the fuck up instead of complaining about a legal system that gives them an unfair deal"
That is the attitude I am posting about. And not positively.

I am pretty sure good lawyers help even in a case where you have clearly broken the law.
There is a lot of difference in what happens to you based on intent, technicalities, and how you frame what actually happened and which parts are admissible.

Pretty sure the difference between 30 days probation and a fine and five years in jail or worse is often good lawyering.

The thing is, what does criticism about the law, like the rest of society, tending to favor the rich have to do with Trump not being able to find lawyers because he won't pay them?

Trump has skated on rampant criminality for years because he commits white collar crime, is rich, and is well-connected enough to take advantage of the inequities in the system.
That his personal shittiness is now undermining his ability to take advantage of his privileges isn't something I'm going to complain about.

Nothing, but the fact that other members post this, is a good reason to remind people about it.

The inequality is not built into the legal system. It is inherent in capitalism. rich people have access and the ability to buy better goods and services. That is just a fact. Access to the system is generally equal and works reasonably well.

So who's currently guessing that Trumpo-Wumpo set up the current investigation on purpose?

MAGA-base polls are swinging away from RDeS and back to Trump. He grifted a cool $million from his sad, brain-dead sheeple-pay pigs in the couple of days after the raid was announced. His pathetic lawyers brought a stupid, legally incompetent motion today that read like a Twitter rant by Big Fatty himself and which the judge laughed out of his courtroom. This is what being a successful GOP politician is all about, right?

Endless stupid. Endless grifting $$$$$. Endless ranting on Twitter. It's like the "good days" when he was a fat, stupid president never went away. He's important again.

JC said it best when he explained that the "lefties" fucked themselves by challenging Trump because now the GOP loves Trump again and RDeS's momentum is pooped away down the toilet. Except the "lefties" don't give a shit who's corrupt, neo nazi ass they kick in 2024. But Trump cares a lot.

I'm betting that he withheld those documents and told the DoJ to fuck themselves deliberately to cause this search and to exploit it with more conspiracy theory bullshitting and money-milking.

That implies strategy and that appears to be above rump's abilities.
He's always operated by spending big on lawyers to scare others to drop cases against him or delay forever.

What's more interesting now is that his general shittiness means he's stuck with incompetent idiots who will likely screw his cases up more.
HIs only play is to regain presidency and be above the law and to delay all cases until then.

Here you go, Danny. Quebec dude asks the cops if he can arrest all the lawyers.
Nah, I am a compassionate guy. Just re-assign them to manual labour.

Silly idea. We'd just launch back pain lawsuits until they gave us back our offices and 3-piece suits.

They tried that under Chairman Mao's Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. Did not end well.
