You guys do realize that children can unlock locks right? And like many situation, hindsight is 20-20. Sometimes you need a higher lock, search the net, there are child proof special locks, even alarms for this type of situation. Because it happens so much.

Parent could have locked the door, and toddler still got out. It happens. And if that is the case, I am sure the parents or would hope the parents will find new locking systems.

Without knowing the full story, I personally am not going to rush to judgement and automatically call out parents has bad parents for this.

I will. I doubt very much this child broke out of the home and into an in service subway station and into the tracks. The nearest residences to warden station are quite a distance away and across a major intersection. Then you'd have to come in through one of few street level entrances, most likely go up 2 sets of stairs to track level and then climb down to the tracks. More likely the family was on the platform together and somehow lost sight of the child. Odd that no real details of the parents or their whereabouts have been provided yet

@Soccersweeper Your explanation is logical and makes sense.
It's possible a child leaving a home could find their way onto the tracks a distance from the station where the area is not fenced off and then follow the tracks into the station, but that would mean just happening to not get hit by a train or touching the 3rd rail, which seems highly unlikely. Amazingly the child was found on the wooden guard above the 3rd rail.

ok. Could happen.

Parents lose sight of kids for all sorts of reasons. Happens all around the world on a regular basis. Hell, they have made leashes for kids for this exact thing. Then people bitch at parents who put their kid on a leash.

I can see judging a parent who leaves their kid in a car or beats them etc, but you have no idea what happened or why, as you pointed out so I don’t get how you can judge without even knowing the facts of what happened.

The article Made mention of searching the area to see how the child got into the station. I mean people want to blame the parents, but how did a child get on the tracks too. This is why I thought maybe a wondering child from home. Not lost at the station at that time of night.

Without all the details, no one should be judging.

I'm judging on the extreme unlikelihood that child was alone in that station at that time of night given how far any residences are. It's conceivable the child did that but highly unlikely. I covered a lot of ground once when I was 4 that involved a police search, but none if it involved overcoming al the obstacles that would have been in this child's way. I suspect it's going to be similar to that 4 year old killed by a GO train last week where the parents did not have the child secure and in fact exposed her to a dangerous situation.

And you could be right. I just prefer to wait and see before automatically labeling parents as bad simply because something involved a child.

That is the “go-to”. Something happens with a child and parents are automatically label and called out. Sometimes they are bad parents, sometimes they are idiot parents, sometimes they are bad luck parent. There is a variety of reasons so I will just personally wait to hear all the facts before jumping on the bad parent bandwagon.

Let me know which station you want to board at. Warden is easy access I hear. ;)

So there you go - the parents have tried.

Police said the child had left home before in a previous incident and that the parents added extra locks to their door, but the child was able to open the locks.
They need an alarm and higher locks for this Houdini child, but at least they are and have tried.

This happened with my 4 year old nephew. I woke up at 4am to go to work and found the kid hanging out on my driveway. I got childproof my place after that. Luckily it was summer and not winter.⁹

Well I'll be. Luckily the train operator was alert. Would still love to know how the child got past fencing to get in there. Love the mom wanting to move because the area is unsafe because of this. R u kidding me? Put locks on the bedroom door from the outside if need be.

Putting locks on the outside is illegal and a fire hazard.

But I get what you mean. It is not unsafe. It is a fluke. A fluke the kid gets out, a fluke the kid got into the yard, on to the track and even a fluke the conductor saw the girl.
