I like this Joe...

President Joe Biden on Thursday will announce his plan to reduce gun crime, outlining during a trip to Pennsylvania how his administration would spend the $37 billion in his 2023 budget request to "support law enforcement and crime prevention," according to a White House fact sheet and senior administration officials.

Almost everyone wants the same thing - they want police to enforce the laws that actually exist (like the one which prevents protests at the homes of SCOTUS justices), and stop enforcing the laws that don't exist (bogus traffic stops, resisting arrest charges, obstruction charges, carding, etc.). Simple as that. It has NOTHING to do with funding. It has EVERYTHING to do with firing bad cops once they are discovered, and supporting good cops.

And this part?
establish a new $15 billion grant program for cities and states over the next decade to help them prevent violent crime and "ease the burden on police officers by identifying non-violent situations that may merit a public health response or other response."

Oh definitely...as long as they don't defund police...they can do whatever they want with their other funds...like i said...I'm liking this Joe...nobody is against...social workers doing work for the community...defunding police which BLM and the left is asking aren't the solution...do you agree?

I'm ok with taking some of that police budget and spending it on social workers to take those calls.
That's part of defund.

social workers already have a budget...why take it form the police budget? when crime is an all time high, the last thing you do is reduce their budget...

It's part of "reimagining" policing. The people who know nothing about anything use their imagination to arrive at something. Rest assured, though. The nice neighborhoods will not suffer policing cuts.

Social workers don't have a budget to go out on 911 calls.
So why not spend some of that police money to take care of people, keep them out of the court systems and prisons, if possible?
That's a bunch of calls cops then don't have to take.

Ever tried to extinguish as tire fire? Its near impossible. Just have to let it burn to ashes. Takes a long time.

This crime problem won't be solved with improved policing. The problem has to do with the pandemic of children being raised by single parents. (This is how criminals are bred. That's a well studied fact!) If "the nuclear family" ever became in fashion again, we would have hope for less crime in the future. The tire fire is already burning. The US just needs to stop putting more tires on the pile.

Right, you better work to make divorce illegal then.
Oh wait, I'm sure this is next on the GOP/SC agenda.

No don't need to make divorce illegal. Just get rid of no-fault divorce and start applying contract law to the marriage contract. Just imagine if a spouse could sue the other spouse for breach of contract? I know that sounds crazy! But it would be like any other legal contract!!

Why?
When Crime was low, they increased the budget, and crime went up.
So logically, increasing the police budget increases crime.

Newsom's thing is just a stunt - the Supreme Court will strike down a vigilante law like that as unconstitutional. But it is still good tactics for him to raise his profile.

Would the SC rule on Newson's gun law but not the Texas abortion law that offers the same bounty?
