You know, this whole Hunter Biden focus is just more GOP/right-wing media bullshit. I mean, I always knew it was, but this realization highlighted it even more.
Hunter Biden was a non-issue for the GOP until 2019. He joined Bursma in 2014. Joe was vice-president at this time, while the GOP controlled both houses. If it was such a big deal, or they were so concerned about the optics of Hunter joining the board of an energy company when he had no oil/gas experience....why didn't they raise any concerns then? I mean, they subjected Hillary to 10 investigations on Benghazi for blatantly political reasons. Even Kevin McCarthy has admitted that. They didn't give a fuck. They had the ability to hold a hearing and issue subpoenas on this topic, but didn't. To add further doubt - many members of the GOP supported Biden's move on fighting corruption in Ukraine back then. So....what changed?
Now, in 2019, Joe starts talking about running - and suddenly there is a concerted effort on the right to find and smear him by any means necessary. Which is why Trump tried to extort Ukraine to get dirt on Hunter....and leading to Trump's first impeachment. So....Hunter might be a flaming train wreck, but this focus on him or his probably doctored laptop shows you how little they actually have on Joe. That is the reality here.
Now, should Hunter have been on the board? Probably not. But, he isn't the only person who sat or sits on a board with no experience in the industry. Ariana Huffington is on the board of Uber, Jim Mattis was on the board of Theranos...What do they know about those industries? Optically, it isn't great, but at the same time, that has nothing to do with Joe. I'm sure Joe would have preferred if Hunter didn't take that gig. But, Hunter is an adult (a trouble one at that), so he made his own decisions.
But, let's face it. This is all just smoke and mirrors that started as an effort to hobble Biden's presidential campaigns, and is now being used to attempt to derail his agenda.
