They did their job and fired a snake oil saleswoman, unlike the Republicans and the fringe right that would give the snake oil salesman a promotion.

BTW, is this a case of cancel culture, hmm

You're upset they caught this guy in an audit of their own work and forced him to resign?
No I'm glad they caught this person but what took then so long? How much damage did it cause? How many others are there in other news rooms? You just can't trust the MSM these days. From either side.

It took them a few months from what I can see. The article you posted mentions she graduated in 2021 and worked in Gainsville before going to USA Today.
So they caught her really quickly.
Looking at the list of articles they retracted or flagged they look like mostly BS gossipy filler shit that gets done these days.

So this is exactly what you want to see.
Someone thinks they can cut corners and make up quotes to make it look like they are doing their job better and faster and they get nailed and thrown out.

Gabriela is a man? I guess these days anything goes
My bad.
Only glanced at the name since I was more interested in what kind of reporting they had fucked with.

The fact that the king of Lies has a platform called "Truth Social" is beyond a Orwellian joke! It's even worse than Fox's "fair and balanced" nonsense.

So what sources of information are more trustworthy?

True but the damage has been done. You know retractions mean nothing and are put in a corner with very few words. Small condolence to the victims of her bullshit.

The entire media left & right knows it can lie with impunity. Therefore, you cant trust anyone
That's what the right wing media tells you so you buy their lies.
Legit media like CBC don't lie, CBC goes so far as to have an ombudsman you can complain to about bias and inaccuracies in stories.

One of the first goals of fascist regimes is to destroy trust in the media.

The difference is when a journal like USA Today finds that one of their journalist cheated/lied. The denounced it publicly and fire that journalist.

A news site like Breitbart or other right wing 'news' do not bother with it at all. They fabricate their own facts to their own narrative so then they cannot be false ;)

Publications like USA Today do not "find" that their journalist cheated/lied. Publications like Breitbart "find" it for them. Then publications like USA Today decide whether they can dodge the bullet, but just as critically, decide whether it costs less to dump a scapegoat than it does to try to dodge the bullet. That's the luxury of having enough money and expendable staff to simply throw someone under the bus and carry on.

Saying MSM can't be trusted is like saying women have babies. Tell me something I don't already know.
