No need to. We all know that the car-jackings and shootings are done by Asians wearing black hoodiesShouldn't they also release crime statistics by race?

I think the Chief of police should strip naked, get on his knees, beg for forgiveness (with tears) then roll on the floor while "activists" all take turns giving him golden showers while filming the whole thing.'I don't know what an apology does,' says academic and member of Jane-Finch advocacy group
They will never do that, because, well, that would be racist.Shouldn't they also release crime statistics by race?
Data is meaningless without the other half of the equation. Releasing enforcement stats by race without releasing crime stats by race is unfair to the police force, and will result in hesitancy that will spike crime. This type of move is not logical, but instead idealogical.
It'd be different if the stats showed racialized individuals committed 10% of crimes, but made up 40% of arrests. But that's not their focus. Instead, they want the number of arrests to be in-line with population percentage. Can you imagine? Doesn't matter if you're committing a crime, we're over our racialized arrest quota!
So, so stupid. Yet the media and progressive groups are all over this.
I agree with the correlation of economics/poverty and crime. And I've said this to young black men; instead of blaming others for your poverty, do something about it. Get an education. Get a good job. Be something you can be proud of instead of blaming"The man" for keeping you down. "YOU are in control of your life. No one else. If you CHOOSE to break the law then you suffer the consequences. If YOU hang with known criminals, then YOU suffer the consequences. If YOU present yourself in a way that portrays a criminal sector ( gang colours, rap artists fashion etc) then expect to be treated like a criminal.".The concern I have with that data is the very topic of this thread. Based on police behaviour, it is a serious possibility that black people are more likely to be charged/convicted. There have been multiple studies on this in the US that show with a strong correlation that in similar situations, black people are less likely to have charges dropped or stayed, more likely to be convicted, and have longer sentences for similar crimes. Some of this is likely tied to economic factors with on average, black Americans are poorer so are more likely to rely on public defenders instead of better lawyers.
There have been other studies that show black people are far more likely to be charged with possession of weed even though usage rates seem pretty consistent between different skin colours.
I've said this in many threads on the topic but I believe that crime rates are tied to economic factors with violent crimes and gang activity being most common in poor communities. Data in Canada about violent/gang crime has Asians being the largest number of cases out in BC, Indigenous in the prairies, Blacks in the GTA and Montreal, and Whites Down East, a close relation to which groups make up the low income families in those jurisdictions.
Thanks for telling the truth.I agree with the correlation of economics/poverty and crime. And I've said this to young black men; instead of blaming others for your poverty, do something about it. Get an education. Get a good job. Be something you can be proud of instead of blaming"The man" for keeping you down. "YOU are in control of your life. No one else. In another thread I said that when I took notice of my environment and who I was hanging with and made changes to my friends, dress/appearance, conduct, I was no longer getting hassled by police. I have several luxury SUVs and I don't drive like an asshole. I don't have the music loud and windows open. The tint is factory. The wheels are factory. Know how many times I've been stopped for "nothing"? Zero in 20+ yrs. I was pulled over for speeding five yrs ago 55 in a 40. I never denied it. Actually smiled and said "Damn, I was going over, wasn't I?". The officer took my info, came back in less than five minutes and let me go with a warning. Why? Because I wasn't an idiot to him and respected his job.
I will say, there are some bad cops out there. Cops who shouldn't be cops. They will fuck over just about anyone, because they feel they can. The only good thing that will come out of this type of study and action will be vetting those bad cops and unfortunately at the fate of another victim.
What if George Floyd (a man with a history of crime and bad interaction with police) had just complied that day? That being said, that cop had no regard and killed a man because he was one of those cops that shouldn't be a cop and let the situation get out of hand because of Floyd's history, another factor that gets overlooked .
Thank you for listening.
The data actually shows they target minorities black, brown, middle eastern Asian etc more than they do white people. If the police are racist howcome they only target young black males ?
Wouldn't racists target ALL black people regardless of age or gender ?
It's like getting angry at the police for "targeting" young males with sports cars for street racing instead of 60 year old women. Obviously anyone with an iq over room temperature can see what's going on.
9 out of 10 times when there is a shooting in Toronto the victim and perpetrator are both black. But let's not talk about that or we are racists
Have you heard the term FIDO? It stands for Fuck It, Drive On. If they're not careful, it's exactly what Toronto will do.To those who think that this report means that blacks are discriminated against, because all races are equally likely to commit crimes, why do you NEVER promote the logical corollary to your views?
Namely, that certain groups, such as Japanese Canadians, who are LESS likely to be charged with crimes than befits their proportional representation in the population - they are unfairly AVOIDING being charged for the crimes that OBVIOUSLY they must be committing!
How do those rascals get away with it?
Take police away from those high crime (oops, sorry, OVER-CHARGED-WITH-CRIME) areas, and reallocate to those areas where Japanese Canadians are clustered, where crimes MUST be occurring yet are being ignored.
Couldn't have said it any better.I agree with the correlation of economics/poverty and crime. And I've said this to young black men; instead of blaming others for your poverty, do something about it. So you need data on how often police arrest black men to understand data that shows that police arrest a large number of black men?Data is meaningless without the other half of the equation. Releasing enforcement stats by race without releasing crime stats by race is unfair to the police force,...
True idea. The question is how to get that education when you don't have the money to support it and your family gets in your way. Having to work part time to support yourself and your family does make it harder to get yourself to the point they can get a good job. It's a lot easier in Canada that in most of the US to take advantage of opportunities but it does make it harder to get the opportunities.I agree with the correlation of economics/poverty and crime. And I've said this to young black men; instead of blaming others for your poverty, do something about it. Get an education....
Just out of curiosity, when do you become a visible minority? The data actually shows they target minorities black, brown, middle eastern Asian etc more than they do white people.
