It is not any worse than it was in years past. In 1957 I graduated from high school and wanted to go to university but my mother was a divorced single mother and could not afford to send me there, however, my brother who was 6 years younger was able to go to university because the province implemented student loans and he went to U of T, got a great job and retired at age 60 with a full pension. Some of the most expensive university tuitions are in the USA, while university education in Denmark is free of you reside there and come from an EU country. So many poor students are drowning in debt and they can't even land a job out of school to pay enough off without the interest killing them
This country needs less people going to college studying what they want (or not studying at all) instead of what will get them jobs.So many poor students are drowning in debt and they can't even land a job out of school to pay enough off without the interest killing them
Let’s make trade schools free. We need skills, not thrills. This country needs less people going to college studying what they want (or not studying at all) instead of what will get them jobs.
Why spend your own money when you can spend other people's money! What is it with people today? Everyone wants everything for free, free education, free drug plans, free dental plans, free daycare. Whatever happened to just looking after yourself and not having to pay higher taxes to look after other peoples problems.
Societies benefit from an educated population. Maybe not free tuition… but affordable. So tax payers are paying the salaries' of the professors'? Tax payers are footing the bill for the dorm rooms, the books, all the staff that make a college work, the maintenance of the entire campus?
College is expensive and that's because it's a privilege. Not everyone needs or even should go. There are plenty of programs/scholarships that help poorer people go. With respect, arguing that we should do away with tuition all together is just naive.
Sorry, I answered to the wrong postLet’s make trade schools free. We need skills, not thrills.
Its working for Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, and Denmark. In Canada today there is broad financial assistance available for those who cannot fund their education directly, so exceptionally few barriers to access to post-secondary education beyond academic qualification. That said, there is no such thing as a free lunch. I see no reason why post-secondary education should be FREE for anyone. If it is important to you, pursue it, but accept that there is a cost that will have to be paid which is pretty much the same price for any citizen of Canada, with some nuances depending on when you actually live in the country vs. what institution you want to attend.
The more you declare the more you can get. I understand the frustration with the government but if you only declare à third of your income, you won't be able to buy a house or anything big for that matter. Also might block you for a loan or credit margin in case you need it for an emergency. FYI.do you seriously think I should pay lots when the govt does nothing for my liberty security and safety? next thing you know you'll be saying tax on each inch that enters you
if you declare your income the bank can "freeze"your account at 250,000 and theres nothing one can do but see all their hard work pissed away your declaring every customer who's a criminal according to the governmentThe more you declare the more you can get. If you live in Canada, you are 100% accountable and responsible to report 100% of your income and pay the associated tax rate established for your income bracket. No exceptions based on personal political or policy views. You are not special in any way, nor any different from any other citizen. If you don't, you deserve and should accept and consequences that may come your way due to non-compliance.do you seriously think I should pay lots when the govt does nothing for my liberty security and safety? next thing you know you'll be saying tax on each inch that enters you

We don't live in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, and Denmark. We live in Canada. Those countries and ours are in fact very very different in some fundamental ways. What works there won't necessarily work here, and what is a fit there based on how they're set up may not be a fit here. It's too broad of an assumption that just because it works there it is by default a slam dunk here. Its working for Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, and Denmark.
