Hopefully but we won't know till all the problems get fixed with the PM approval
Glad to have someone there speaking up. First of all thank you! Feel for you. 100% support and respect.

1) how understaff you think you guys are? Yeah after Covid I feel everyone is calling in sick as if they’re entitled. I work in education, the teachers are covid’ing like musical chair. But overall I feel its more because they not able (or willing) to hire back all the staff #greed. True?

2) Is Covid protocol and testing really the culprit? Will stop testing and stop req proof like they started a day ago really help the situation?

3) flying to US on a Saturday morning 9am flight, when should I be in airport? 5am? Just regular passport no nexus.

Hmm we are very short staffed but that's a given due to the amount of pay you start off with. Plus the long hours and few days off are really starting to affect one mental and physical well-being . They should probably rehire everyone but I'm not so sure that they would. Airlines have been somewhat in a pickle during the whole pandemic.

Hmm answer to the second question is I'm unsure because the airlines checkin systems are always super delayed when it comes to certain updated information. We will ask for proof till the federal government gives the all clear . Honestly everything is connected to eachother

Hmm rush hours starts at 6am and on a weekend it will be extremely brutal. So 5 am is a decent time

Don't forget you still need to upload your info on the ArriveCan app when coming home.

WARMINGTON: Former NHL star calls delay of game penalty on Pearson airport (msn.com)

good article
sad to see this happen at the busiest airport in Canada.

Even Tampa took a bus to Buffalo to avoid YYZ when playing Leafs
Tampa and Toronto took a bus to Buffalo, there was still a testing requirement to enter the US via air at the time. Way too risky to take the chance on getting a positive test for one of the team stars. Teams in the West flew to either Vancouver or Lethbridge and drove across.

They also do not travel through the same system private terminal on the North side of the airport they do not go through the main terminal.

I couldn't care less about the problems of some former hockey player, airline cancellations are part of the problem here not just GTAA

I do agree they need to staff up but every business seems to be in a similar situation.

Schiphol airport in Amsterdam are running four plus hours to clear security and having multiple cancellations and delays, this might be the current worst in the world but it is up for debate.

My daughters came home from EU on Thursday landed around 5 PM. From the time they landed and opened the doors on the plane to walking out of the terminal with their luggage in 45 minutes or less but they both have Nexus cards.

All you can do is get there early be patient and be prepared to spend some extra money on food and drinks at the airport if you get through quickly

Agree patience is required! Almost every airport in the world is short on staff & the pilot & flight crew situation is just as bad if not worse. You think things are bad here just go to the Caribbean or South America!

I flew out Friday & only maybe 10 minute wait for US customs, came back late Saturday & was out of the airport with a carry on in less than hh.

Best flying ever was during peak Covid, no lines & sometimes only a handful of people on a plane!

Somewhere between here and there
I travelled last week and it was crazy - I arrived 5 hours for a flight to the US and almost missed my flight was in line for security.
Getting back it took me almost 4 hours to get out of the airport.

Work has decided for Montreal we are going to take the train and for US we are going to fly through Buffalo.
This airport has been in decline for years - we need more going out of Hamilton and they need to start building the Pickering Airport.

What time of the day were you traveling? I have been traveling to the US for work every month since the beginning of this year and never saw the craziness you described above.
