Preferred Ottawa Area and Hotels?

Sandman is the best but the prices right now are high. It used to be about ~$120 a night for the past year but now it's above $300 on a lot of nights. Heck it's going for $400+ today.

Both easy to get to and close to 417. Whichever is less expensive. Hampton Inn has nicer rooms I think. For you Holiday Inn is walking distance to mall and places to eat
I don't remember which one it was on Coventry, but I believe you need a card to enter the elevator lobby on the main level....so I'd avoid it.
The one thing I like about Hampton Inn on convertry is they have underground parking so late night clients can park walk to elevator then straight to the floor by passing lobby I remember before the pandemic 11 pm they would ask where ur going

Yes, Sandman $421 Friday and $511 Saturday, and sold out 3 days next week.
Also, Holiday Inn on Joseph Cyr is $665 Friday. Yikes!
So time to consider some less popular hotels. Many of them sold out in the near future.
I think all these rises in prices may be due to the fact that Colleges and Universities are having in person Convocations this year for the first time in 2 years, so there are a lot of people coming to town to stay for a couple days. Just food for thought.

The cheapest rates I could find were for late July and they are still $200+ per night.
I think I will need to book a room and advertise with deposits.
If I don't get enough bookings with deposits, I cancel and send them back.
I am not risking cancellations or no shows with no deposits at these hotel and train rates.

Google tells me the Welcome Inn and Comfort Inn are around $160 a night, the ones near St. Laurent....
I don't mind the older motels isn't that the places we used when we were young and hot to take our ladies now we're old going grey and bald so we have to bow to the insanity chasing young hot women oh well I LUV IT

The original name was the ST Georges I believe also the value inn down the road the former miss ottawa motel
I grew up out there there was also the Lemay motel also used to stay at the chaudiere club with my gal 2 nights for $35 and of course she paid lol
Plenty of sub-$200/night options if you search the Marriott site. Any of them would be way better quality than the aforementioned motels/inns. I've slept on public restroom floors in train stations that were cleaner and more comfortable than the beds at the Holiday Inn. True story.

There are several suitable hotels in the $150 range but you need to book 2 to 4 weeks in advance. Some of the busier hotels have raised their prices 50% to 75% or are entirely sold out. Also, providers should consider a deluxe room (about $175) or suite (about $200). Not least because room service is expensive and eating out is time consuming. Last minute bookings cost more. The hotel situation must be pricing a lot of providers out of the market, at least on certain nights. You're starting to see more "outcalls only" ads on LeoList. Also, some of the hotels employ surge pricing, so the price goes way up when they're busy, and some of the price rises are seasonal, and go down slowly in September and October. (A few hotels post a calendar with their future prices. The prices change daily).
