I ‘m a regular a local tavern. One of the other regulars, lost her husband a little over a year ago. She is probably 15 yrs younger than me… we talk every so often. I asked for her number tonight. She shot me down. Used her late husband as the excuse…. And I feel great. Stepped out of my comfort zone. Took a chance. Do not even feel a little bit bad for being shot down. I feel a little bit bad for her having to shoot me down… but just the fact I stepped out of the comfort zone and did something… yeah me!

On line… all the time. Face to face…. Been a while. So many times I wanted too, with so many people….

This is going to be the Summer of Poker baby!

This is why I love you man!
Thanks. Actually I tried to cold call pick up a lovely woman in a store a while ago. I knew it was the same odds as buying a lottery ticket, which it turned out to be. But I couldn't walk away without trying. She was totally ok about it. No harm no foul. Felt momentarily pleased with myself.

Good for you. I wouldnt use such negative language as shot you down.

All that happened was that she wasnt interested. Theres a million and 1 reasons why she mught not be interested.

But to compare it to being a pilot being shot down is melodramatic.

Then again perhaps that illustrates how difficult it is to put yourself out there.

Anyways, i guess my point is focus on the positive which is that you took a chance thst you normally dont. But at the same time i think its important to put less emphasis on how you look at her decision to not take you up on your offer.

I go way back, I used to go to a number of dance club/bars because I loved music and wanted to learn to dance well. It took me some time to become confident to the point where I would ask a girl to dance to a R & R or R & B song and when I did I would not hesitate to ask even the hottest girl and Igot refused many times with being told No Thank You to the point of why should I bother, but I kept going and became quite successful in dancing and picked up a lot of girls. I finally got to the point after being turned down for a dance, I would give her a smile and say, Don't thank me, Thank God Someone Asked You. Bottom line, never get discouraged, there is alway someone who likes you.

Used to be that being able to dance would get you 9/10ths of the way.

Why would you ask someone to dance if they are so horrible that they need to thank god if someone asked them. Kinda makes you sound both desperate and bitter at the same time.

Guy loses his eye in an industrial accident.
Depressed. Goes to doctor to get fitted for a glass eye.
Doctor said " this one will look good".
Guy says "how much"
Doctor says " one hundred dollars"
Guy says "I can't afford that one"
Doctor says " how much can you afford?"
Guy says "ten bucks".
Doctor says "well, you can have this wooden painted eye for ten bucks. Looks like shit, but it will do for now I suppose"
Guy takes the eye. Doctor is right. it does look like shit.
Becomes a bit of a recluse because of his weird looking wooden painted eye.
Finally decides to step out of his comfort zone and go to a Saturday night dance.
Standing in the corner in the dark he spots a girl with a club foot with a bunch of her friends.
Thinks to himself, "she won't put me down"
Goes over to her and says "excuse me. would you like to dance?"
The girl says "would I?"
Guy yells at her "club foot club foot club foot!"

Way to go Poker!!!!!! Good for you.

But I am little upset. I give you my number every time I post and you never call!!! LMAO. Just jokes.

It takes a lot to do what you did and seriously, good for you for shooting your shot. A lot of women don’t understand how hard it is for a guy to ask for a number.

Good for you. Next time start with food- dinner or brunch. Doesn't mean that you won't get shutdown, but the odds are slightly better. Oh, yeah. Now that you're out of your comfort zone, it's time to move to the next stage: playing the numbers game.
