Wasn't the UN involved in this evacuation? Until I hear something from them that this has a sinister motive I will reserve judgement.
Soldiers are always lied to. Just like the Ukrainan soldiers being lied to. This is why they are mostly young men, dumb and full of energy. Why did those Canadian volunteers hightail it so quickly? This war is nothing like they have experienced before. These are Afghan vets. That was low intensity compared to this one.
I don't "follow" Putin. But I do question NATO encroachment and the need for the US to station their nuclear weapons in Europe. Especially considering the Europeans have their OWN nuclear weapons. Why is there no possiblity of even discussing the Russian/NATO relationship or making Ukraine neutral with some assurances from Russia? Surely that would have been better then what has happened??

they arranged the evacuation of the steel plant in coordiation with the Russians. Perhaps it was not logically possible to take them anywhere else for now.
Until they accused the Russians of spying, kicked them out, broke agreements on expansion, pulled out of INF treaty, pulled out of ABM treaty, pulled out of Open Skies treaty.
