Funny we didn't have a flu season for 2 years so it absolutley did help. Plus how would you know if it didn't? Plus we live in Canada not the US. Every state did something different to control Covid. Plus I believe the US is starting the whole deal again. I'll believe a doctor and health professionls over the media anyday.
Some will argue that we didn't have a flu season because all flus were counted as Covid19. Others will argue the Covid19 strains were more powerful and destroyed the seasonal flu. Masks only help reduce the output of germs related to coughing or sneezing. And that's only if the person coughing or sneezing utilized their mask correctly covering from mid nasal passage down to the chin. Overall I agree with Phil the masks were negligible at best.

Abolutely not and I can tell you why. During my mask wearing days I never caught covid. Once the mandate was removed and I went maskless, boom, I caught COVID. Now being triple dosed it was like a mild cold but nevertheless only happened once I removed my mask
Wow, a sample size of one. Thats squeezer science for ya 😂

In the winter I felt masks were gross because they act like little snot rags. Then we touch them and go touch other stuff 😂 I think standard etiquette like staying home, not breathing on others, hand washing, avoiding touching your eyes, and sneezing into sleeves are adequate tbh. Everyone should have been doing that pre-VID.

I’m just glad I can smile at people and wear lipstick again.

As an aside, I once gave a BBBJ to a guy wearing a mask. I felt like we were doing some ninja cosplay 🥲

A study involving 330 million people over 50 different US States is cherry-picking???!!

Okay, now I've heard it all 😂
So…. In the “masked” states, how many people complied vs did’t comply?

Of the people that “complied”…. How many people did it 100% of the time, right down to the letter of the law. How many people that wore masked in stores, still went to friends homes for birthdays and holidays, or even just Friday night drinks? Football games?

Please produce that data.

It only takes one unmasked person with Covid to go out to a crowded store to infect many. Hell, even with Ontario’s mandates, I seen people all the time ignoring them.

So yeah…. Not really a comprehensive study. Cherry picked data being used to create a false narrative… and the fact it has to be pointed out is scary. That fact that a faction of society is cognitively dysfunctional in this day and age is more than a little disappointing… but not surprising.

I had a couple of clients wear them. One of those times I was riding the client And it was really hot and heavy and there was this amazing eye contact. Then he just ripped off his masked and kissed me hard. It was awesome!! LOL.

Shit, we're still on this?

And I'm sure Ontario's numbers of cases, hospitalizations, and waste-water tests spiking right after March 21 is just a coincidence.

And the prime stupidity is that these claims were being made two years ago without any evidence and they continue regardless of the evidence while still pretending there is scientific backing for the idiocy.

This is more along the lines of logic. I've figured out what the problem is in our disconnect with Phil.
1. The study was about mask MANDATES. What we DON'T know is how many did follow the mandate, and how many did not follow in mandate states, In states without mandates, how many still wore them, and how many did not? This is why the measurement was crude.
2. As far as mandates affecting covid rates...seems it did not. Thus if the argument is MANDATES don't work...then you're on good grounds.
3. However, some of you erroneously concluded MASKS don't work. No, the study was about MANDATES. It did NOT compare mask wearers vs no mask wearers. The CDC studies tested mask wearers vs non mask wearers. That IS the test of whether masks work. The data strongly suggests masks work.
4. Thus, the study suggests minor affects for a mandate at best. But it does NOT address whether masks work.

The defence rests, m'lud.

Further proof you have no idea what you're talking about. Covid started rising in wastewater around March 10th, 2022.
Ontario mask mandate ended on March 21, 2022. So it started rising about 10 days before that, when everyone was still wearing their masks.

We can safely assume the vast majority of people complied. You couldnt get into a restaurant, bar, bank, retail store or government office without a mask, and an establishment that didnt comply was fined $1,000 for example in NY State.

Your attempt to now question the data because you arent sure how many people complied reeks of desperation

Oh…. We can safely assume.

How about… we can safely assume people wore masks in Walmart because they had too…. And just like a lot of the Ford administration, they just did as they pleased in private.

If you aren’t smart about it 100% of the time, the virus tends to spread. Since the virus spread, we can safely assume that 100 % of the population was not in compliance 100% of the time.

Thats complete horseshit and you know it. Like I said, you couldnt go anywhere in NY State without a mask.

Now lets see how NY State compared to Florida which had no mask mandate.
Turns out not very good 😂

Even if US States which had mask mandates only had 50% compliance rate (which is a very generous assumption) that would still mean they should have had 50% less covid cases, which they didnt. Your argument lies in ruins

The defence rests in mud

Nope. It’s 100% fact. I was out working the pandemic. Saw first hand. Had daily inviting me over for every birthday and holiday. Had buddies invite me out to drink on their garage as part of the bubble. Even had a kid who who wore his mask in the grocery store, and went to a gym that a guy kept open on the down-low.

You're trying to bullshit your way out of this now. The stats clearly show that masks had no effect
