I just want to see what other folks over 60 are going to do now that they're releasing the 4th dose. I already got the third. I was reading that the forth dose is not that effective. On the other hand they're talking of 100 thousand new infections a day in Ontario.

Ontario’s health minister says details will be released Wednesday on the province’s plan to provide fourth doses of a COVID-19 vaccine for those aged 60 and older.

Fourth doses in the province are already available to long-term care and retirement home residents, as well as those who are immunocompromised.

“Our medical advisers have recommended … that we go to 60 to provide an added level of protection to the residents of Ontario,” Elliott said at Queen’s Park on Tuesday. “We will have more information about that available tomorrow.”

Earlier in the day, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) said provinces and territories should prepare to offer fourth doses in the coming weeks, prioritizing those 80 and older and residents in long-term care.

This latest update from the Ford government comes as the province is seeing rising hospitalizations, which have been the highest since the end of February.

“We’re watching very carefully but Dr. Moore has indicated that we don’t need to bring back the mask mandate and he has said in the past that we should have expected the numbers would go up as we open up Ontario,” Elliott said, adding “Ontario is in a very good place.”

I don't think anybody knows for sure if there is a strong build up of protection B-cell and T-cell immunity from multiple shots or your protection fades and it is really about elapsed time from the last shot. Given that, after 5 months, why not err on the sid of caution and just get another shot?

I have the 4 Moderna shots and have already resumed campaign trips to Toronto. I am still avoiding very large crowds and tightly packed bars but each of us has their own comfort zone. I may have had an Omicron variant about 10 weeks ago but have always tested negative. The only symptoms were a 4 day headache and very minor cold-like symptoms. I had a 98.8 fever for one day. I think everybody will get Omicron of some type no matter what they do. Prior to crossing the border I had a negative PCR test. My point is you might as well load up on vaccines and have extremely minor symptoms. Many fully vaxed people will not know if they had Omicron or not. But having had Omicron in addition to the vaccines will probably be the path back to some version of normal.

Or you can do nothing and thrash around for a few more years and keep worrying. The Prez is not a vaccine coward. Use common sense but watch hospital admissions and waste water virus reports. They say a sixth wave is building up again. Most of those hospitalized soon will be unvaxed or undervaxed.

And a cold beer at Hemmingway's with the roof open after the campaign events as soon as weather permits. The Prez is older than most of you. Rock on.

I'm not there yet (age-wise) but I would hope that future boosters will be tailored to the newer variants.
Vaccines evolve. The polio vaccines have been modified and improved over time. As Rumsfeld said, "You go to war with the equipment you have - not the equipment you want."

Not over 60 but if it was offered, I’d take it. I have yet to have a reaction, have no news that it will harm me and it may help. So FOR ME - it makes sense. For others, not so much.

I've had zero reaction to my first 3 shots except for a slight soreness at the injection sight for a day. I have no issues with continued boosters.
Did you get Pfizer? I had Moderna and they made me tired for a week or so. I didn't have any fever or nothing crazy , just felt wiped out and the arm was very sore . Moderna supposed to be stronger, but I'm thinking getting the Pfizer as my second booster, just to avoid the sides and maybe its good to mix..

I'm 3xmoderna. Maybe a slight bit of fatigue after the first and just the sore arm from #2 and 3.

Interesting.

Based on a poster abstract (never reviewed).
One that had a correction issued when published.

This made the rounds when it was presented at AHA last year.
People noted how bad it was then.

Of course you will take the fact there was a correction to mean "the deep $cience" or whatever "got to them".

Not peer reviewed and complete crap. As stated in the above links. Far more cardiac problems are seen for those who get covid than for those who get shots. Some people would rather believe information from Witch Doctors Online than from professionals with 30 years of education, training, and experience.

If you're over 60 and unhealthy, it's not a bad idea to get vaccinated and boostered up. Granted, you're already susceptible to countless diseases that might take you out at that point.
