If the season ended today, the Leafs would be playing Tampa and Tampa would have home ice…that’s a tough road.

Bossy also had guys looking out for him, Gillies was on his line.
Matthews is on his own.
Yes, we all know that but that wasn't the point.
There are some who want Matthews and Marner traded rather than build the team with some Gillies around them.
That's what Tampa Bay did. Leafs actually did try to get a Gillies for M&M. His name is Ritchie.

I wonder if Bossy ever got benched or pushed down the lineup for lack of effort.
Bossy played to his potential, some guys don't.
So Matthews is perennial Rocket threat and this year a candidate for Hart and this is the shot you're taking at him.
Have you ever heard of players named Laine and Eichel?
Matthews is in the early stages of his prime years. He has 250 goals already in 397 games
If he stays healthy he is a slam dunk for the Hall of Fame.
Brett Hull leads all American born players with 741 goals in 1269 games.
Next is Mike Modano with 561 goals in 1499 games.
Hull had Oates known as Hull and Oates
Matthews has Marner known as as M&M
Oates is also in the Hall of Fame

not always sure...
I thought Carter Hart was supposed to be one of the up-coming goalies…2 terrible goals in a minute.
Hart's good: he's either injured or sick right now.
He was out for their last game and didn't practice on Thursday.
Putting him in was a game time decision.
Flyers play back-to-back in NY tomorrow otherwise they probably would have played Martin Jones tonight.

On those Islander teams, if they thought you weren’t giving maximum effort you wouldn’t get pushed down the lineup you’d be in the American Hockey League.
And that's why they were a great team, you didn't fuck around.
That team is still underrated, one of the best teams ever.

You may feel they don't get their due because they followed the great Montreal Canadien teams of the late 70s and then had the Wayne Gretzky teams on the other side...not even the Gretzky Oiler teams won 4 in a row.

Two top teams in Florida now.
Hmmm 🤔
Good chance Leaf’s can go 2 for 2.

I'm watching the game and I think that this Matthews kid could turn out to be a decent player.

Actually, what Matthews and Marner are doing is magic. They are both so talented and so in sync with each other. Not sure if I've seen anything like it since Gretzky and Kurri.

It was a solid team effort. They matched Tampa in speed, physicality and territorial play.

And it looks like the time off did Soupy a world of good. Very solid.

The Leafs took it to the Lightning 6-2 win. Matthews gets hatty and closes in on 60 goals.

The experts and pundits on this board will say otherwise.

The game didn't look too taxing. They should be good to go tomorrow.
