Edit: holding women to a different standard than men is pretty hilarious, you assume no women will stay and fight (even Ukraine shows your argument here is flawed), and no men will flee or try their best to get out of their duties (Trump and many others who avoid being drafted proves this argument wrong as well). What would you do? I have feeling you would be jumping the first ship out of here as well. I certainly wouldn’t believe you if you said you would stay.

Me? I wouldn’t have an issue with staying but I will fully admit I have no significant combat skills, I am not in the fighting shape so I would be useless and would probably die on the front lines if sent there. I would suggest that I would be better suited elsewhere. Maybe in aid. Communications, stick me in front of a computer, information searching, Packing, organizing, cooking, anything around camps and stuff. I would do my best and do my share.

But I have said before and will say again, I have lived. I have resolved issues in my life. If I died in an accident tomorrow, I’m good. I have my death letters already written. And I update them with time. So stick me anywhere. At least dying protecting my country is honourable. So I’d be cool with going out in a bang.

I would stay and defend, not because I have ANY combat experience or fighting skills whatsoever, but because if my staying offered a better chance for my fully capable, perfectly healthy sister to escape with her kids, it'd be worth it. I wouldn't be able to stomach it if the roles were reversed. I still believe in traditional gender roles and I'm not afraid to say it.

I am pretty honest with myself and about myself. However avoiding being MDKed is not something to be ashamed about IMHO. If most people did it, we as a society would be fucked, but it is rational on a personal level. Thankfully much like there are people who are willing to turn docile cows into tasty food so I can eat them without being weirded out, there are others who are willing to die in the name of sensible and needed national strategy, although for many other reasons.

I love that line from Monty Python, I really am not a pacifist, just a coward and there is a real difference.
